I tried to make out the words that were stuck in my throat, "I-I um..."- I let out a defeated sigh-"It is. I am so sorry." My head hung low, as the pit in my stomach transformed into guilt. I went to walk off the altar, until a hand on my shoulder stopped me in my tracks.
"You're not off the hook just yet, Sugar, you got some explaining to do."
I looked at Ashe confused, "What?"
"How come you never told me how you really felt about me?"
My soul left my body processing what she just said, "How did you-"
"You were looking at me the entire ceremony, Y/n! Did you hit your head on the way down the aisle?" She exclaimed. "What kind of idiot do you take me for?"
I let out a sigh, "I thought you didn't feel the same."
"So you go around and find a rebound? Because you didn't have the guts to tell your own best friend you love them?" Ashe crosses her arms.
Always one to rub salt in the wound, "But I-"
"Was scared? You still are, even though you have no reason to be."
She put her hand into my own, then pulled me towards her until her lips met my own.
Baptiste:
"I-l object." He stood with his hands together like a little boy confessing a crime. "I know that this is your day, but allow me to just take a few minutes to say what I have to say." He pulls out a crumpled up piece of paper from his pocket, smoothing it out in his shaky hands. I had never seen Baptiste so scared before. "Y/n and I have known each other for many years. I remember us talking about the future, and what it would be once the fight was over. I said stability, they said happiness. I thought that maybe one day, when life would give us a chance, that I could give that to them. And it seems that not even your future partner could give that to you." There were a few gasps in the crowd amidst the silence, yet he continued, "If it is not too late, I would like to be the one to give you happiness." He looked up at me, the paper he held gracefully falling down. "You can go forward with this wedding, and I will support you as always. Or, you can accept my offer. All I want is for you to be happy with your decision."
Angela let out an audible aw from the crowd. I found my lips forming into a smile, my legs walking over to him as we met half-way. "I accept." He pulled me in his embrace, and it felt so right. Butterflies formed in my chest, and I couldn't stop smiling. Even as we pulled away, the magic never faded. I pulled off the wedding band, throwing it to my former Fiancé as me and Baptiste headed out the door. I bolted into a run, dragging him along as we giggled at the excitement of it all. By the time we were out the doors of the church, He pulled me into a tender kiss. Nothing went as planned, but it felt like a dream come true.
Bastion:
His body creaked as he stood up, bringing everyone's attention to this ancient robot. Even Ganymede stared at him and he was a bird. He then said something to break the silence:
"Beep bop beep bop boop boop."
I raised my eyebrow at such profanities, to think such an omnic could have the bolts to insult my soon-to-be husband and call his mother a faulty wire! I gasped, "Bastion, such language!"
But he ignored me, continuing his chain of insults that only I could understand. "Boo beep bop bop beeeeep bop boooop beeeep!"
I grit my teeth, "If you feel that way then why have you come here?" He then spoke words that made my heart melt: "Beep bop beep."
I took off my ring and shoved it into the preacher's hand as I ran towards Bastion. He picked me up bridal style and I kissed every scrap of metal on him that I could reach. I could hear Torb say "What on earth did I just witness?" And Zenyatta replied with: "Ignorance is bliss."
