Chapter 20

Inihatid ako ni Leo sa bahay ni Lola at pagkatapos no'n ay umalis na siya. He insisted to come inside but I rejected it. He needed the rest, his eyebags said it all though he didn't say it vocally.

"I'll text you when I get home. Mag-reply ka," he said.

"Oo na. Go. Mag-iingat ka sa byahe." pagtataboy ko.

He hugged me so tight and after that, he departed. I remained standing outside the house as I watched his car slowly losing my sight. I entered the house afterwards.

Ang bilis lumipas ng panahon. Things went very well. Our relationship longs for months and still counting. That's the very best days of my life. We communicate daily. Minsan matagal siya mag-reply pero tinataasan ko nalang ang aking pasensya. Pero bumabawi naman siya sa akin sa pamamagitan ng pagfa-flood message.

I got high grades in school and I realized, I am not that dumb. Hindi naman talaga bobo ang isang tao, sadyang tamad lang mag-aral. And I experienced that, very much proven.

Nag-moving up kami at nasali ako sa With Honours. With High Honors naman si Betty. I am very proud of her as much as her parents'. Mom and Dad attended my Moving Up ceremony and we celebrated my Honours. They are very proud of my achievement, as well as I am.

Sa Catigbian National High School pa rin ako nag-Seniors. Lola was shocked when I told her I wanted to stay in that public school. Ayaw ko nang lumipat. Besides, Betty will stay there also. Kaya magse-stay na rin ako.

"How's your study? Malapit na exam niyo sa first quarter, a?" si Leo nang isang beses ay umuwi siya.

We're having a date, as usual. Nandito ulit kami sa bundok kung saan naganap ang first kiss namin. Maliit lang ang bundok na ito pero kita ang buong lalawigan at lawak ng Catigbian. It's calming and very relaxing. The sun is setting in front of us that it adds the beautiful scenery.

We're sitting on the mat on the grass. Nakahilig ang ulo ko sa balikat niya. Ang kanyang kaliwang kamay ay nakapulupot sa aking beywang habang parehas naming tinitingnan ang magandang paglubog ng araw.

"Okay lang naman. Maraming project na kailangan i-submit, nakakapagod na din pero kakayanin."

His body moved. Nilingon niya pala ako. I see the happiness and contentment on his dark eyes. He looks very satisfied now. I shifted a bit. Umayos ako ng upo saka humarap sa kaniya.

"That's my girl," he said proudly while caressing my cheeks. "Ngayon alam mo na kung anong gusto mo?"

I nodded like an innocent kitten to her master.

"I want to be a lawyer like my Dad."

"How so? Siyempre may rason ka kung bakit ganoon." he said, smiling so sweetly at me.

I sighed. I stared at him. I really love his smile. I love his voice. His eyes, his nose, his lips, his being, his everything. I love the whole package.

"Gusto kong ipagtanggol ang naaapi. I want to be their shield and armor against those wicked superiors. Furthermore, I want to change the unfair justice system on this country."

"I love that way of thinking..." si Leo. "Pero masyadong risky kapag gano'n. Hindi rin madali. Pero may tiwala naman ako sa 'yo, Ashka. I'll support you in everything."

Ngumiti ako saka bumaling sa papalubog na araw. Sana nga madali lang ang lahat... Alam kong imposible pero kakayanin ko.

"If you're really passionate about studying law, you'll make it. Claim that. Ashka, I'm so glad you found your passion."
