Chapter 15

I couldn't sleep. The image of us earlier keeps on haunting me. Everytime I close my eyes, I remember the kiss we share. As a result, it's past midnight and I'm still wide awake!

I look like a night owl now. Damn you, Montreal!

Nagpagulong-gulong ako sa kama. When I got tired, I looked at the ceiling. Napahawak ako sa aking labi. Ilang oras na ang nakalipas pero nararamdaman ko parin ang malambot at matamis na halik ng lalaking iyon.

Ngayon lang ako nabaliw sa isang halik. Kung noon, hindi big deal sa akin ang halik, nag-iba na ngayong si Leo Montreal ang gumawa sa akin. His kisses make me a woman. It aroused my feminine spirit. Nakakababae siya!

Damn! What have you done to me, Montreal?!

The next day has arrived. We're having breakfast with my Grandma. Umuwi na kasi ang magulang ko kasama 'yong sipsip. Kaya kaming dalawa nalang ulit ang nandito ni Lola.

I faked a cough to get Grandma's attention.

"Lola, I have a question."

"Hmm?" her left brow narrowed. "You're so serious, Apo. Ano iyon?"

"Paano mo nalaman na si Lolo na ang pakakasalanan niyo? I mean, how did you know that he's the one for you..."

I took a glass of milk on my side table and immediately drank it.

"I don't know exactly... It just happened that I fell in love with your Grandpa and that was it." Lola said. "Bakit? May nagugustuhan na ba ang Apo ko?"

I almost spilled the milk out of my mouth. The milk stocked inside my throat that I should drink another to continue the flow. Nag-angat ako ng tingin kay Lola. Nakasilip naman ngayon ang nakakaloko niyang ngiti.

"Lola..." uminit ang pisngi ko.

She laughed out loud.

"It's okay, Apo. That's normal for your age. Ganyan din ako noon. Marami na akong karanasan sa mga love-love na 'yan. Don't be shy. Ako lang 'to."

"Eh, Lola. How did you... uh scratch that. How did you meet each other? Paano kayo nagkakilala ni Lolo? Love at first sight?"

She laughed again, sipping on her coffee. I wait for her answer while having my meal.

"It's not the typical 'Love at First Sight'. We hate each other then. No, I hate him. He pissed me off everytime we met. Hindi ko alam kung bakit ako na-inlove sa Lolo mong iyon. Habulin din noong kabataan namin, mapa babae o binabae, kaya mas lalo akong naiinis."

"Talaga po? What's next?"

"He was the Captain of the School's Basketball Team. I was the cheerleader. Resulta, ibang school ang ch-in-eer ko. Galit na galit ang Lolo mo sa 'kin. Our personal feud continued. Then my bestfriend found us cute... Doon nagsimula ang lahat. Lagi na kaming tinutukso and such. And little by little, I fell for him." she sighed. "I missed the old days when your Lolo Rodolfo was still here."

I sighed. Hindi ko na maalala si Lolo Rodolfo. I was too young when he died in a car accident. Mom said, Lola almost lost herself after what happened to Lolo.

She couldn't accept Grandpa's sudden death. Pero nakapagmove-on narin naman si Lola. She overcomes it all, how brave she is. Imagine, losing her first and great love. I can imagine a million tears fell on the ground.

"Lola, tanong lang po. Paano mo malalaman kung in-love ka na sa taong iyon?"

Her face diverts directly at me. I couldn't contain watching her on her broke estate. It's just so hard to see my beloved Grandma mourns about Grandpa. It's heartbreaking.
