"What's with you, Leo? Hindi ka na nagparamdam sa akin the last time you left for Manila! I waited for you for months and then malalaman ko lang na umuuwi ka pala sa mga buwang iyon? Without even telling me?! Huh?! How could you?!"
My footsteps echoed the hallway as I stepped onwards to reach them. Fast and swift, regardless Betty's voice calling me. Nanggagaliiti ang kalamnan ko ngayon sa inis. Hindi ko maipaliwanag.
My presence remains unnoticed to them. They continued chitchatting that they didn't notice my presence behind Leo. The girl was hysterical from this very moment. Hindi ko alam kung anong pinag-uusapan nila kaya gusto kong malaman.
Ano, nagkabalikan na ba sila?! Ha?!
"Pwede ka naman magsalita nang hindi sumisigaw, Cleopatra. Look, I got busy for my studies and I needed to do my responsibility as business holder, okay? No need to shout..." si Leo.
"Paanong hindi?! Hindi ka nagsabing umuwi ka pala! You owe me an explanation for that!" sigaw ng babae.
Kumunot ang noo ko. I was on the edge of interrupting them but I decided to keep silent behind and listen to their conversation. I need to hold my patience before I burst out.
Leo sighed like he's already annoyed.
"Huwag kang sumigaw." his restraint voice filled. "And what? I don't owe you an explanation, Cleopatra. Sino ka para bigyan ko ng eksplenasyon? You're not even my girlfriend or someone I should explain!"
"W-What?" the girl seems shocked.
My annoyance lowered a bit after hearing that. So... hindi sila mag-boyfriend?
"You gotta be kidding me, Leo! We were already in a relationship before you left, right? You courted me and I said yes! Tayo na 'di ba? Sinasagot na kita noon pa!"
Umasim ang muka ko. So... Leo did court her back then? I gritted my teeth. He courted her! And Cleopatra girl already answered a yes! It means, sila na bago pa ako dumating dito!
"Ashka, tara na... Iwan na muna natin sila rito." bulong ni Betty sa gilid ko. Para siyang kinakabahan o ano.
Mas lalong nag-igting ang bagang ko. Hindi ko siya sinagot at sa halip ay matalim lang na tiningnan ang likod ni Leo Montreal.
"What? When did I do that?" he said, confusedly. "Sa pagkakaalam ko, it was you who courted me. I told you to stop yet you still pursued me. Paano naging tayo, Cleo? I am sorry but... I only treat you as a friend. Iyon lang."
"H-How could you, Leo!" the girl's voice broke. "How could you?! I waited for you! I love you, Leo. Please..."
Now she's having a breakdown. Parang tanga.
Tumikhim ako, sakto lang para marinig ng dalawa. Leo immediately turned to me with a shocked face. His face paled as he saw me. His lips parted.
"K-Kanina ka pa d'yan?" his gaze went to Betty then back at me.
"Yes." I said.
He gasped like something bothered him so much.
"I can explain. Ashka..." kinagat niya ang kanyang labi at natutulirong hinawakan ang kamay ko. "I can explain, Ashka. She's just..."
