Splitting Up

(Nya's POV)

"It's so hot in here" Lloyd groaned, wiping some sweat off his forehead 

"Well Lloyd, we are currently inside of a volcano. I wouldn't expect the climate to be very cold" Zane replied smartly to the green eyed Ninja

I rolled my eyes at Zane's response and continued to follow Sensei inside of the volcano. We've been following a trail the Serpentine must have left behind with their tails for some time now, but so far it's just been a straight path. Occasionally there would be a turn or two and perhaps we would lose the trail but Zane always managed to find it again 

Studying the volcano environment I noticed all of the cracks in the brown rocky walls, with some even leaking lava which thankfully didn't reach our trail we were following, but I'm sure my Trident could have gotten rid of the lava if it did. Sensei told us to be careful while following his lead, one wrong movement could possibly make this entire place erupt! 

Suddenly Sensei stopped, making us all stop behind him. Looking in front of our Sensei my eyes saw what had made him stand in place, the trail was no longer a straight line. Three separate paths were now in front of us, there was one to left, a very rough looking one in the middle and of course the final path to follow was to the right

"W-W-Which path d-do we t-take?" Jay asked Sensei, beginning to become worried "I r-r-really don't w-want to get l-lost in this p-p-place"

"Hmmm, it is hard to say Jay" The old man turned to tell the fidgeting auburn haired Ninja "It appears that the Serpentine's trail goes down each path"

Observing the three paths we could see that Sensei was right, the Serpentine's tail trail continued down each of the three new paths. Making it unclear which path was the correct one 

"Zane? Do you think you could use your Nindroid abilities to find out which path is the one to the Fang Blade?" Harumi suddenly asked the white haired Nindroid

"I am afraid not Harumi" Zane replied to the Jade Ninja

"Why not?!" Harumi asked Zane, getting a bit frustrated "I thought you were the smart one!" Jay and I both crossed our arms at Harumi's statement, who does she think does all of the repairs?! Well Zane helps with those too I guess.........

"This volcano's heat seems to have an effect on my scanning capabilities" Zane explained to us with a frown on his face "I am not exactly sure how this is possible"

"Ah don't sweat it bro" Cole casually told Zane, throwing his right arm around Zane "This heat is having an effect on all of us" 

"Well that's easy for you to say Mr No Sleeves" Kai said to Cole, making us all let out a slight chuckle 

"I think the best way to solve this problem is to split up" Lloyd interrupted Kai and Cole's playful banter before one of them took it too far, and knowing those two knuckleheads they would have made this entire place erupt! 

"N-Nothing good e-e-ever comes f-from s-splitting up!" Jay pointed out to Lloyd in a stressed out manner, earning a slight chuckle from me. He always seems to make a situation humorous, I guess that's one of the reasons why I adore him so much........

"You're going to have to trust me on this Jay" Lloyd spoke to his best friend "This is the only way to find the Fang Blade" Jay took a moment but nodded in agreement 

"So how do we determine the groups?" I asked, hoping I would end up being paired with Jay

"Leave that to me Nya" Zane brightly smiled "I shall put all of our names into a random group generator to determine the three groups"
