My feet dug in the sand as I watched the two figures walk toward me. Both tall and proud and as I stared I noticed their resemblance was entirely uncanny.
“Ronan?” I asked, taking a step toward them, my white dress glowing in the wind.
“It’s me Sedna.” He smiled as I ran toward him and greeting him with a hug.
“Oh I missed you so much!” I gushed kissing him before he could say anything else until I heard the other man clear his throat.
“Sedna, this is our son.” Ronan introduced, motioning toward his twin.
And there I realize that this Symari standing before me was my baby boy. Only he wasn’t a baby anymore he was grown. Walking toward him I couldn’t help but cup his cheek, tears welling in my eyes as I stared up at my son, the son I never got to raise. The son I loved with everything in my being. And then I couldn’t help but pull him in, hugging him close to me as I cried.
“Mom don’t cry…” He trailed off but it was no use.
“All this time and I wasn’t there.” I whispered, “I love you, you know?”
“I know.” Ronan Junior whispered back.
“Now, we have a lot to discuss.” I said with a smile.
He smiled, “Yes, we do.”
The only sound left was the rise a fall of the waves and a lifetime of knowledge spread between mother and son.
