Chapter 4

Here's your update!!

I tried to see through the openings in the vent, to locate Catherine, but she's nowhere to to be found, this is going to take longer than I expected. I went down the vent further, checking different rooms.

" Damnit, where are you?!" I said to myself.

That's when I spotted her, cornered by some guards, she looked terrified, they grabbed her by her hands and began dragging her to some other area and a few other people too. I followed as much as I can through the vent, but when they took her in a different room, the vent didn't even went inside that room.

I gotta find Naira soon, maybe she could help me, I've been to Naira's office once in the beginning, when I used to revolt, when I thought, I could make it right. I sighed and opened the vent window of Naira's office and jumped down, she was shocked to see me there, she immediately went and locked her office

" Why are you here?" She asked worriedly

" To save you, let's go" I said and was about to grab her hand

" No, I can't go, you go with Catherine" she said backing away

" But why?" I asked impatiently

" I need to be here, I have to find the cure also and I'll be more relaxed when my friends are not here" she said panicked

" Do you really think you can find the cure like this, by testing whatever you're making on everyone, they're still hiding something, you know that!!!, Just come with us, there's no future here" I shouted a little bit

" But I can't" she said again

" Catherine is in danger, they took her to a room, where even the vents don't go, you better help her" I said sternly and climbed the vent again, and after a few seconds, there was Naira climbing the vent with a bag

" Just because we're friends" she said rudely and signalled me to start moving

" I know why you don't want to go outside" I said as we crawled

" Really?, Go ahead" she said sarcastically

" You don't want to go back to the place, where Kartik died" I said the bitter truth

" It's not that" she whispered

" It's exactly that, I know, because I lost Jack also there, hell I don't even know if he's alive or not" I said

" I'm sorry" she said quietly

" You don't have to be, we're friends, we're all afraid, but if we all are together, I'm sure we'll find a way" I said as I opened the vent window and helped Naira jump down

" She lied to me, shit!" She panicked when she realized the room Catherine is in

She immediately took her card out and swiped it on the lock and went inside, I followed her and saw unconscious bodies lying on beds with some pipes attached to her body

" What the hell is this?" I said looking here and there for Catherine

" They're injecting the vaccines" Naira said worriedly and ran here and there to find Catherine

" She's here" Naira shouted from one end and I ran towards her and saw Catherine lying unconscious with the pipes attached to her body

Naira began to take out the pipes one by one, I also forwarded my hand to speed up the process, but she stopped me

" No don't, there's a process, one mistake and she's dead" she said and continued doing her work

I gulped and kept a watch, if someone decides to come this way

" Done, just a minute" Naira said as she grabbed a injection and injected Catherine with it

" What's that?" I asked

" It will kill the vaccine elements in her body, and she'll gain consciousness" she said and then I picked up Catherine and we ran to the vents, Naira climbed up, then somehow we transferred Catherine's body in the vent and then I climbed up and closed the vent window

" When she'll wake?" I asked, it's going to be difficult to run like this

" Hmm, where ?" Came Catherine voice

" Cat, are you fine?, It's me Naira" Naira said as helped Catherine up

" Wait what? Tristan? Naira? , What's happening?" She was confused

" We'll tell you, but right now we really have to go" I said and then we followed the vent for the exit route
