Chapter 28: Uuwi

Nakipagkamayan kami sa mga board members at investors, shareholders. The meeting was adjourned after what Fidai said. Dahil doon natikom ang bibig ni Mr. Luche. Since everyone has no objections, I was officially addressed as the new CEO, not a second in command.

"When I met Symfle in the gala, she mentioned that her sons has girlfriends already. I didn't thought, the other one, is you, hija." nakangiting sabi ni Mrs. Lee.

Ngumiti ako sa kanila. Their eyes never fail to look down, on Fidai's hand intertwined with mine.

"You look so good together." puri pa ni Mrs. Ramirez.

Umiinit ang aking pisngi sa mga naririnig at humalakhak lang bilang tugon.

After all of them left, we went upstairs to the office. Sinuyod nila Mommy at Kaden ang buong opisina. Kaden and Fidai were talking while I moved closer to the window and accepted Jason's call.

"Frenny!"

Nilayo ko na agad ang cellphone dahil alam ko na ang unang pambungad niya.

"Oh my gosh! I am so sorry. I should have been there but I am stuck here in your mansion. Frenny, your Lola is super sweet!" he cried. "She made me talk too much."

Humalakhak ako. "You always talk too much."

"Grabe ka naman. Pero uwi kayo agad ha? Naghahanda kami ng feast para sa'yo. CEO ng C & H."

"Be good there, Jason."

"Your Lola loves me already, frenny. Don't worry. Sino na ngayon ang ina-appoint na President?"

"Wala pa. We left that position empty for now." sabi ko.

"Oh, okay."

Binaba ko na ang tawag at bumaling kay Mommy na patagilid akong niyakap. She gave me that motherly smile. Ever since, our grandparents got here. We haven't talked much lately. Deep conversation like before because we're both preoccupied.

"I never got to thank you, hija." mahina niyang sinabi.

Bahagyang kumunot ang aking noo at pinisil ko ang kanyang kamay sa aking braso, nakapulupot. The arms that carry me to sleep and the arms that acts as a shield to the storms.

"What for, Mom?"

Ngumiti lamang siya at humugot ng malalim na hininga. Napangiti lang din ako.

Umuwi kami sa bahay matapos namin magpasya sa buong hotel. Talagang may fiestang hinanda sila pagdating sa bahay. They prepared foods in the long table by the poolside. There is a shade of pink banderitas and silvery stripes as the background of the word 'Congratulations'. And an inflated wine balloon and a few balloons on the side.

Tumawa ako. "Para namang anong graduation ito,"

"Oh, you bet. Tonight's gonna be a good night, frenny. We'll go clubbing afterwards and I accept no 'no'." he eyed me.

I scoffed and shook my head. "Fine,"

He giggled. "Nice. Oh, my beef steak!"

Tumakbo siya papasok ng bulwagan dahil sa napagtanto na naiwang niluto. Lumapit ako kay Lola at Lolo na nakaupo sa couch, may bulaklak na nilalagay sa mga vase.

"Let me help po, Lola..."

She smiled. "No, your Lolo and I want to throw this party for you so you just relax, hija. Jason is already helping,"

Inakbayan ako ni Lolo at tumawa naman siya. "Kanina pa ang Lola mo sa mga bulaklak na iyan. Hindi nakontento sa paglalagay ko."

"Because flowers is not just flowers, Felipe. Dapat nakaarrange ng maayos. Right, hija?"
