"ishu, dekho beta, meri baat samajhne ki koshish karo...." insisted her grandmother as ishita glared at her with disbelief.

"kya samajhne ki koshish karun? aap kaise kar sakti hai aisa mere aur maa ke saath!" yelled ishita.

"majboor thi main, ishu....damaad tha woh mera...ab ho gayi thi usse galti..." defended her grandmother.

"yeh galti nahi hai!" detested ishita.

"dekho, maine wahi kiya, joh mujhe uss waqt sahi laga.." stated her grandmother.

"jyoti ghar aa ke baith gayi thi tumhare saath, usse toh lag raha tha chakkar chal raha hai iska uske ke saath...par phir jab riaan ne mujhe sab sach bataya, mujhe laga ki shayad meri beti ka ghar bach sakta hai, woh chahta bhi tha apni galti sudharna..." explained her grandmother.

"aur aapne yeh baat maa se chupayi?" questioned ishita.

"dekho, main bas chahti thi ki uska ghar bach jayein...tum bhi toh thi, reh leti bina baap ke! aur waise bhi, usne sharab pee rakhi thi, kahan hosh rehta uske baad kisiko, aur woh aurat bhi, ab sharab pilayegi kisi aadmi ko apne ghar mein toh aur kya hoga?" argued her grandmother.

"apne meri ya maa ki safety ke baarein mein bilkul bhi nahi socha?" interrogated ishita.

"woh ek acha aadmi hai, apni biwi aur bachi ke saath aisa kuch kyun karega? aur tum batao, kabhi koi kami chodi hai usne tumhare liye..." responded her grandmother.

"ache aadmi apne doston ki biwi ka rape karte hain unke ghar mein!" commented ishita.

"arre, galti ho gayi thi usse ishu, sabko ek dusra mauka milna chahiye na!" protested her grandmother.

"aapko samajh nahi aa raha hai kya? jaan le li aapki beti ki iss dusre mauke ne! dhakka laga tha maa ko yeh baat jaanke, no wonder she ended up crashing her car into that pole...aur yeh sab isiliye, kyunki aapko grehasti bachani thi unki!" revealed ishita, as her grandmother was shocked.

"usse pata chal gaya tha?" she confirmed, and upon ishita's nod in agreement, was shook by this reveal.

"uss ache aadmi ki hi badaulat hai, ki meri maa iss duniya mein nahi hai..." remarked ishita, as she went into her room, leaving her grandmother, in utter despair.

"haan maa, bread, anda, dhoodh sab le liya hai....arre kya check karun dobara? abhi toh kiya...ab ghar aane do shaanti se mujhe." said purvi to the receiver on the other end of the call, as she hung up.

purvi walked to the gate of her society from the dairy nearby, when she noticed a car stopped by the guard.

"B-16 mein phone nahi utha rahe..." informed the guard, to the man in the car.

"arre bhai, meri saasuma hai woh..." excused the man.

"sahab aapki biwi hoti tab bhi nahi jaane de sakte...." remarked the guard.

the man sighed in disbelief, as he picked out his phone and started to dial.

purvi, meanwhile, was getting annoyed, waiting by the gate, that was blocked by the car.

ishita's grandmother was crying, when her phone, kept in front of her started to ring. she moved the phone closer, as the caller id flashed, "riaan". she immediately declined the call, and threw her phone away.

                                                         ***

riaan took the phone off his ear, as he noticed that his call did not get picked up.

"kya sahab, kya kardiya biwi ko, ki sasuma phone nahi utha rahi?" remarked the guard, as riaan glared at him.

"arre yaar, kya problem hai! mujhe apne hi ghar nahi jaane de rahe ho..." complaint purvi, as the guard signalled riaan to take his car out of the way, which he did.

                                                        ***

purvi took out the bread, milk and eggs from her cloth bag, on the dinning table.

"chalo, sab kuch le aaye tum..." remarked anjula.

"matlab, thoda sa hi bharosa rakh lo, apne bache pe..." retorted purvi, when suddenly, all lights went out.

"bas, meri zindagi jhand karne ke liye kuch na kuch hona hi hota hai..." complaint anjula, as purvi grabbed her phone and switched on the flashlight.

"abhi intercom karti hoon guard ko..." stated purvi.

                                                                   ***

"fuse na udd gaya ho..." hoped the guard as he went to check the fuse, after keeping the phone back.

he reached there finally, only to find the main switch to be off.

"yeh saale bache, pata nahi yeh shaitaaniyan kyun karte hain!" grumbled the guard, only to be hit on the back of his head, with a rod.

                                                             ***

kavin kept back the intercom, again, with annoyance.

"yeh phone hi nahi utha raha hai, yeh guard!" complaint kavin.

"aaj shaam ko hi so gaya yeh..." remarked meera.

"dushyant, zara dekh ke aa neeche, kya hua hai!" ordered satish, as dushyant  switched on his phone's flashlight, and started to go out.

                                                       ***

purvi came out of her house and noticed dushyant.

"guard nahi utha raha na phone..." remarked purvi, as dushyant shook his head in disbelief.

"lagta hai pura fuse scratch se bana raha hai..." retorted dushyant, as they both went to check.

                                                                 ***

ishita opened her bedroom door, to a completely dark living room.

"nani?" asked ishita, as she came out with her phone's flashlight on.

"nani, kya hua hai? intercom kiya guard ko?" asked ishita, as she looked for her grandmother.

she gave up and walked to the intercom, only to find that there was something on the ground. she pointed her flashlight down, and looked down, to find her grandmother, lying there, unconscious.

"nani!" exclaimed ishita, as she shook her.

she got up, worried, and started to move to the kitchen to get water, only for a man to appear in front of her.

"papa.." she called in shock, only for him to cover her mouth with his face and drag her to her room, as she screamed for help.
