Joshua's pov

Coming to a stop at a red light, I answer Debby's phone call with a huge smile.

"ARE YOU FUCKING JOKING?!" She yelled.

I giggle and shake my head, even though she can't see. "No dude! He fucking spent the night at my house on Friday and I have not been able to wipe the smile off my face."

"Oh my God dude! Holy fucking shit! What does this mean? Is he gonna break up with his what's his face?"

"Brendon," I corrected. "And no, unfortunately. It was just this one time thing, he wasn't feeling well and I wanted to comfort him."

"Yeah, you're right, you're right. Strictly friends. Nothing more." She said.

"Yes, strictly friends." I couldn't help but smile.

"Yes. Friends."

"Friends."

"DUDE!" She yelled again.

I laughed at her as I pull into Kelly's driveway. "Yeah, I know Debs! Listen, I gotta go alright? I'll call you when I'm finished cleaning!" I said, shutting off the car.

"Okay, sounds good dude! Love you."

"Love you too, buh-bye." I hung up and squealed to myself, tossing my phone in the passenger seat.

When I look up once more, I realize there's another car here. Kelly's car. Hm. Wonder what she's doing home on a Monday.

I unload myself and all my cleaning shit from my car and head up to the house. I unlock the front door and walk inside, instantly walking off to set some stuff down in the kitchen. I turn back and around and jump seeing Kelly sat on the couch.

"Oh! Shit, I didn't see you there." I laugh. I bring the vacuum to the kitchen and continue talking. "What're you doing home today? No work?"

She clears her throat and stands up. She has a blank expression on her face as she walks towards me. "I figured it would be unprofessional of me, not that you seem to have a problem with unprofessionalism, to do this of text, but you're fired. I don't need your cleaning services anymore."

What?

"Wh-what do you mean? Did I do something wrong? I don't understand?"

"You don't have to act coy, Joshua. I know you tried getting in between my sons relationship."

"Getting in between- Kelly, I didn't do anything."

"My sons boyfriend spent two nights here, crying about how Tyler cheated on him with you. I don't need your services any longer."

"Kelly, I promise I didn't do anything with your son. If you want the full story, I'll be more than happy to tell you it all."

"I don't need your excuses, I heard it all from Brendon. Now, I will not say this one more time. I do not need your services anymore. Get your things and leave. I'll mail you your last paycheck." She turned and walked away.

Fired?

I've fucking been here for 10 months and I'm fired? Whatever. Fuck this stupid job, fuck this stupid house, fuck those stupid snobby rich kids.

I grab the shit from the kitchen, leave the spare house key and walk outside. Flipping off the house as I load everything back into my car and drive away. Fired?! God damn.

//

Debs is sitting on the other side of the booth as I moan and groan about being fired.

"I don't know how I'm gonna cover rent now dude. This shit fucking sucks."

"I'll be more than happy to give you some money, Josh."

"I don't want your pity money, Debby."

"It's not pity money! And don't be so fuckin' stubborn, you're in a time of need and I have the means to lend you some!"

I roll my eyes and slump down in my seat. I look at the clock on the wall to check the time. 11:58. Two minutes until break times over.

As I go to speak my phone rings. It's an unknown number.

"What?" She asks.

"Hm? Nothing, just an unknown caller." I say, flipping my phone over.

"Aren't you gonna answer it? Could be important?"

"Nope. If it was important I would know the number."
