I came downstairs seeing Carlos coming in from taking a Ellie to school
I came over to Carlos wrapping my arms around his neck
"Are you sure your gonna be okay here alone ?" I said
"T-I'll be fine okay and before you ask I'll text you I promise ..." he said grabbing my face kissing my head
"Okay I'll be home at 5 ." I said walking out the door
I arrived at the station
"Hey guys." I said coming into the kitchen
"Hey how's cap doing?" They asked
"As far as I know okay when u try to talk to him about it he changes the subject and when I ask him if he's okay he says he's fine so who knows .." I said sipping my mineral water
"Typical cap.." Paul said
"Well you gotta give him a minute reminder he was gonna ask her to marry him .." Judd said
"Yeah.." I said with the rest of the team
"And how's Carlos ?" Nancy asked
"Better than he was a few days ago but again they were best friends since they were five so it's Gotta be hard ." I said
"Do we even know what happened?"Marjan said
"I don't and I didn't have the heart to ask Carlos ." I said
"I don't I haven't talked to her since she left for Chicago ." Paul said
"I know .. I was on call with her." Grace said walking in the station
She pulled up her phone as she pulled up the call

"911 what's your emergency?" The call played
"This is Michelle former paramedic captain of the 126 I've been in a accident car crash on Lynwood Ave my abdomen as been pinned I'm bleeding at a rapid rate there another car that has been the the accident is alive but dozing off ."
"Michelle this is Grace ..paramedics are on there way 20 minutes hang on okay ."
"Grace I'm not gonna make it ..I'm bleeding at a rapid rate I'll be gone within the next ten tell the paramedics that the other victim liver might burst when the release the pressure .."
"Michelle..."Grace said while crying
"Grace it's okay it's okay ." Michelle said as the call hung up

Judd rubbed graces back as we all had tears down our faces
"Did we just listen to our friend die ..." Marjan said as Mateo hugged her
