It's the day after the Galla and Maya is sitting in her quarters
"Hey chief!" Kelly says smiling
"I'm not a chief yet! I'm still on squad 3! And your not getting it back any time soon!" Maya says laughing
"I've been meaning to ask have you been to the doctors about you know...The baby?" Kelly asks
"I've been avoiding it! I just can't face it! And my life is going great right now! Why ruin it?" Harper asks
"You need to get it checked out Maya! What if somethings wrong?" Kelly asks concerned
"Kelly if something was wrong it would have hit me by now! That's been months since I lost the baby and I need to move on! Mine and Caseys time will come! I'm sure of it!" Maya says smiling
"Okay! As long as your happy then I'm happy!" Kelly says smiling
"Thank you Kelly!" Maya says before Kelly walks out
It's later on during that shift and Maya is still doing paperwork when she gets a phone call
"Hello?" Maya asks
"Hello! Is this Chief Maya Avery?" A lady asks
"Well I'm not a chief yet but yes it is!" Maya says enthusiastically
"Great! I'm calling on behalf of the commissioner! A spot for a Chief has opened up in New York! And he would love for you to take it!" The lady says enthusiastically
"Oh Umm wow! I'm shocked! That's very generous of him!" Maya says struggling to get the words out
"You can obviously have some time to think it over! Have a good day captain!" The lady says before ending the call
Maya sits there shocked and the thoughts are spinning around in her head. She can't leave Casey again as things are great between them. But it's New York! And she would love to be a chief. Casey then appears at the door
"You okay?" Casey asks
"I just got a job offer for a chief!" Maya says smiling
"Oh really! That's great! Where!" Casey asks
"New York!" Maya says
"Oh wow! That's far away!" Casey says with his voice showing a bit of sadness
"Yeah I've not thought too much about it yet!" Maya says knowing Casey is hurt by the thought of her leaving again
"Truck 81, Squad 3, Engine 51, Ambulance 61, Hospital Fire, Chicago Med" The intercom says
"That must be a big one!" Maya says rushing out of her quarters with Casey following her
"Boden had an appointment this afternoon there!" Casey says as they both start to run....
