It's a few weeks later and Maya has been cleared to go back to work. She is walking in hand in hand with Casey.
"You ready?" Casey asks
"Please! I was only gone for a few months" Maya says smiling
"Yeah! And you always came to visit!" Casey says looking down at her
"Hey I brought you donuts!" Maya says as Kelly spots them
"Hey!" Kelly says enthusiastically
"Hey Kelly!" Maya says as Kelly gives her a hug
"Hey! It's good to have you back Captain!" Capp says smiling
"Yeah! Now get in there and make breakfast!" Cruz says as they all laugh
Maya walks in and gets changed quickly before making breakfast. She makes pancakes and serves them up to everyone. It's mid way through shift and no one has gotten any calls
"It's really slow today!" Brett says as she walks in
"Shhhh!" Everyone shouts
"What?" Brett says confused
"Oh my god! You never say that in a firehouse! Now we're gonna get a bad call!" Maya says
"Thanks a lot Brett!" Cruz says annoyed
"I'm sure-" Brett says before being interrupted
"Truck 81, Squad 3, engine 51, Ambulance 61, Apartment block fire, Oakland street" The intercom says
"I rest my case!" Maya says as she runs out
They jump into their trucks and Squad is first to leave
"Okay! This sounds like a big one! Remember to always have each others backs! I don't want any firefighters dying on me today okay?" Maya says
"Got it Captain!" They all shout
Minutes later they arrive to find a 30 floor apartment building on fire. The fire has taken out floors 28-30
"Listen up! All squad companies you will get your orders from Captain Maya Avery! Truck and Engine get your orders from me!" Boden shouts
"Okay Squad 4 take floors 20-24! Squad 6 take 25 and 26! Squad 3 take 19 along with truck! I want the Luitenents to take the fire floors with me! Luitenent Daren take floor 28! Luitenent King take 29 and I'll take 30! Got that?" Maya shouts
"Got it Captain!" Everyone shouts as they mask up
"Have each others backs in there guys! Radio if you need help! Let's go people!" Maya shouts as they all run in
Maya runs up to the 30th floor and opens the door. She discovers the floor up in flames but still has a little space for her to get through
"Fire department call out!" Maya shouts
As she is walking her radio picks up something
"Mayday! Mayday! Luitenent Casey is down! I repeat Luitenent Casey is down!" Herrmann says through the radio
Mayas heart sinks....
