The First Date

For the rest of the week, Edney and Miranda gave me some "date prep" tips, seeing as it's been two years since my last one. But I'm pretty sure I remember how it goes. He picks me up, takes me to the place, we talk and then he brings me back home. Apparently, that's old fashioned now. But, I'd rather be old-fashioned then wake up tomorrow morning in his bed without any clothes on. So I'll stick to my own ways.

"Where's he taking you, Sody Dream," Miranda asked, while Mom and Edney invaded my closet.

"He's taking me to see a band play....no Mom I will not wear that pumpkin with sleeves." She rolled her eyes and hung it back up.

"Oh I know what to do," Edney said pulling her phone out.

"Edney what're you doing?" I got up from my bed and walked over to her.

"Texting Mitchell....asking him where Ryder's gonna be taking you?" Mom laughed at her.

"Edney I swear if you do it-."

I was cut off by the swoosh button on her phone.

"Unbelievable. You guys are unbelievable."

I started walking towards my bathroom.

"Sody come on."

I shut the door and locked it. My family practically trying to get me in bed with the guy is getting old. First, Edney and Miranda are proud that I stood up to the guy, now they're sending me on a date with him. What has this kid done to me?

"Sody, please come out. He's gonna be here in two hours and you've gotta get ready."

I turned the shower on, hoping she would think I was getting in.

"Okay we'll leave this outfit on your bed then." I heard my bedroom door shut. Then I figured I might as well take a shower anyway, so I got in.

The outfit they laid out for me was anything but normal. I guess he's taking me to a club, judging by the sequins. I don't wanna be mistaken for the disco ball, however. I hung the sparkly dress and blue cardigan back up, tripping over the 50" heels.

"You people are crazy."

Not even knowing where those shoes came from, I kicked them to the side and grabbed a normal outfit out of my closet.

I ran downstairs at 7:08, not knowing whether I knew he'd be late or if I knew if he were here, everyone would be talking to him instead of informing me. My first presumption was correct, and I was ready to head back upstairs when my sisters called me to them."That's not the outift we picked out."

They gave me looks of disapproval.

"Well I figured might as well wear what I want seeing as I'm the one going on the date." I grabbed my jacket off of the coat hanger and put it on.

"Okay, well can you at least change your lipstick? I know you always wear red but it might come off too strong," Edney said grabbing a tissue.

"Yeah, and maybe change your shirt? It's a little too casual for a first date."

They both reached their hands out and continued to tell me what I should change. I, on the other hand, am over this.

"Guys, JUST STOP!"

They both backed off and then the doorbell rang. Without even a second glance, I grabbed my shoulder bag and walked out the door, slamming it behind me.

I laid my forehead on the front door, trying to breathe. I know I might've gone a little too far, but they went too far too. This date, or whatever this is, is gonna be hard as it is. I don't need them adding pressure.
