"He did what?" Olivia asks, almost choking on her toast

"He did what?" Olivia asks, almost choking on her toast.

We're in my room, eating breakfast on my bed. The crumps on my mattress are a small price to pay for my parents not to overhear us. I have Friends playing on my laptop, just in case they decide to barge in.

"You didn't know?" I ask, tilting my head to the side. "He told me he told you everything."

"Not that," Olivia says with a huff. "I swear, that boy keeps on making the wrong decisions. He's willing to meet with Sofia after everything she did but he won't talk to you? What's wrong with him?"

I shrug. "How am I supposed to know? You're the only one talking with him." I glace at her. "Does he... Does he say anything about me?"

Olivia sighs. "Summer, you know I can't tell you that. I didn't even tell you when Kal realised he likes you."

I narrow my eyes at her. "You knew? And you let me embarrass myself?"

She chuckles. "Yeah, that was fun."

Smiling, I throw my pillow at her. It hits the back of her head and her tie-less ponytail comes undone.

"Good morning! Can I come in?"

I tense at the sound of Kal's voice. I glance at Olivia and she nods, which takes me by surprise.

"Yeah, come in, Loser," I say.

What? It started out as an insult but it's cute. Just like him.

Kal opens the door and peeks inside. Automatically, my lips form a smile, which deflates as soon as Kal's frown.

"I can stop by later, sorry," he mutters and goes to close the door.

Before I can say anything, Olivia drops her toast on the plate and holds the doorknob.

"You can stay now, too."

Kal gazes over at me, as if to ask me if he heard Olivia right. I nod with a smile. After bringing him up so many times, it doesn't come off as a surprize that she's ready to forgive him.

Kal smiles at Olivia. It's not the biggest of smiles, but it's clear he's holding back a grin. "Oli, I-"

"You tell me everything," Olivia says, her shoulders hunching down. "Why did you keep this from me? From Alex?"

His smile disappears again. "How could I tell you something like that?"

"Same way you tell us everything else." Olivia shakes her head. "I can't believe you kept it to yourself all this time. Didn't it eat you from the inside?"

Kal's stare drops to the floor.

Olivia pats his shoulder and he looks at her. "I'm only saying this because I care about you, idiot. It's bad you didn't tell Alex but also... you let it torture you for months. Did you really think we'd never talk to you again after something so..." Olivia chuckles. "It's almost silly. It's serious, but silly. Do you get me?"
