Play Dead

We enter the woods, and I glance around for Tom and Molly, as Sherlock looks at the map of the forest.

I continuously check the sky, and each time I do it seems to get darker and darker. I was becoming a bit worried.

The woods aren't very easy to walk through either. There are weeds and twigs, random branches and sticks too, as we walk.

"Those idiots just had to get lost..." Sherlock groans after 20 minutes of walking and looking around.

"I knoow..." I sigh.

That's when I see it.

It's huge.

It's a bear.

"Sher---" I tried to say.

"Shh..." Sherlock says, quickly twirling me into his chest, as we hide behind a tree.

I hear it growl.

"Don't...move..." Sherlock whispers, as I'm pressed up against his chest. He has a grip on my waist, holding me in place.

I swallow nothingness deep in my dry throat, and nod slowly.

"We have to play dead." He says.

My eyes widen.

Play dead?

Like in the movies?

"Can you do it?" He asks softly.

"Of course I can." I lie.

He smiles and kisses my cheek.

This better work. I don't want to die before the new season of Doctor Who comes out. That would be so sad...

"Ready?" He stares at me.

I nod, and we agree to fall in 3 seconds.

"Three...two...one!" He counts, before we bith collapse to the ground.

The bear runs over, after it hears the noise.

It comes near me.

Perfect.

I hold in my breath, and don't move a muscle.

Don't move...

I hear it growl, and I feel hot air on my neck. It's very close.

It begins to leave when it notices that Sherlock and I don't move.

We sit up after it leaves and I pant, placing my hand on my heart.

"Bruh..." I sigh out.

"Are you alright? Did it hurt you?" He asks anxiously scanning me.

"I'm fine, really." I smile.

He stops scanning me with his intricate eyes.

"That was kind of cool...I quite liked the thrill!" I beam.

"Y/N! Keep your voice down!" He whispers loudly, tickling me.

"Sherlock, don't tickle me in the forest!" I squeal.

"Then keep your voice down, little sugar cube." He says, helping me up.

"It's dark...what if..." I stare at the sky.

"No." He interrupts my loud thinking.

"What? What do you mean 'no' ? You don't even know what I'm going to say!" I punch his arm.

"Assuming it has to do with Tom and Molly, you endlessly check the sky to see how dark it's gotten because you're afraid they might not be able to see a visually enlarged creature whom will devour them." He answers me.

I keeo quiet.

"Am I correct?" He asks.

"Sherlock, that's worse than what I was thinking." I panic a bit.

"Its also highly unlikely, so take my hand, and we'll find them together, alright?" He reaches his hand out.

I nod and entwine my fingers with his own.

"Everything's going to be fine." He pats my head with his free hand.

"I can't see a thing." I squint.

"That's what flashlights are for, love." He says, pulling it out of his backpack and switching it on.

We walk for a few minutes in silence, as we scan around. It's dark and very eerie, I must admit, so I try to start up a conversation.

"Was this what it was like in Dewar's Hollow?" I whisper.

"Mm...somewhat. Dewar's Hollow had fog, and tons of it." He replies quietly.

"Fog...oh! The drugged fog!" I exclaim excitedly.

"Precisely." He smirks at my excitement.
