While mom's arms were out, I readied myself as my hand squeezed the handle of the dagger tightly. Narrowing my eyes at her, I quickly rammed myself into her, whipping out the cursed tool and stabbing her in the brain. If mom was already dead from the start, she wouldn't have a beating heart but a working brain, that's why I aimed there.

When the blade cut through her soft head like butter, unknown substances oozed out from her head. I cringed from the yellowish green liquid dripping. It didn't surprise me that she doesn't have blood in her body. I felt like gagging from the horrendous odor it produced. It was far worse than moldy cheese. I don't even want to comprehend and guess what it actually smelled like.

Shiiiiin!

As I ripped the blade out of mom's head, my hand which held the blade was shaking like crazy. Mom's body fell flat as it no longer moved. She was finally dead instead of being his puppet. That's when I stiffened from a pair of dark eyes landing on my figure. I didn't need to turn my head to know who it was... I'm dead meat by how close I am to Geto.

"You!" Geto hissed out with venom leaking from his contorted mouth. The corner of his lip twitched as well as his eyes. Only the pit of hell covered his maddened orbs. "You have the blade that I left... I'm not too shocked since I forgot it. However, you should be happy that you're no longer cursed, you foolish child! I did everything in my power to make you a monkey. The type of people your real father hated!" His fatherly role vanished. My final act has caused him to show his true color, and I'm glad that he did because there's only so much he can fake it till he blew up.

"You three go! Geto has released his curses, and Kana can't see them! I'll deal with him!" Gojo shouted from afar, and in a blink of an eye, my legs were running and my hand was being held by Megumi.

The rough winds were hitting our faces as our breaths were heavy in the rustling forest the trio took me in. Megumi's tight yet firm grip was strong like glue. He made sure that nothing could separate us. If I were to go down, he would too. It's an outcome where he could care less because as long as he has me that's all that matters.

"Fushiguro! Kana!" Itadori shouted from behind, making me turn my head to see a serious look written all over his face. "Kugisaki and I will fend off the curses! Just take her far away from here!"

"Got it!" Megumi agreed to Itadori's plan without hesitation since my life was his top priority.

Then their footsteps stopped to reduce Geto's curses he unleashed at me.

"Don't worry about them, Kana. Those two will be fine! They've trained hard enough to fight off high ranking curses... But if the curses were to catch up to us, I'm going to need you to go on without me."

Immediately, I stopped in my tracks causing Megumi to look at me in befuddlement. "No! You're not going to sacrifice yourself for me too!" Imagining him dying ached my heart and soul. It's like I'm losing a part of me because I've grown up with him. I did so many things with Megumi that no one can replace him. I don't know what my life would be like if he was gone for good. In this moment of despair, I realized the hidden truth of my feelings for him. I did like him. Just like how Megumi feared losing me, I feared losing him too. Now that I was forced to give up my sorcerer life, I have a long future to do whatever I want, including to love someone and start a life with them too. The person I want it to be is Megumi.

"Kana," Megumi grabbed my face with his warm beating hands. His swirling emotions radiated in his soft touch. He was just as scared as I am. His beautiful deep blue eyes showcased it instead of being strong for me. Megumi genuinely wanted to express that sometimes it's hard to be strong in front of the person he loves and cares the most for. We didn't know what the future would entail. "Your existence means the world to me. You never got to live your life. You lived in the shadows of your ancestors. I don't mind losing my life if it means you can live past 18."
