Chapter 17: Encore of a One Night Stand

Daniel started to read out loud,

"These are my faults that lead to my death Daniel," He read. "I was a part of a big mess that went off without a problem but it's one thing that ate me alive. Guilt."

I was in France at this point in time of my life, living as a high-class prostitute. I went into a bar that I was a regular at but knew that all the rich men went there. That's where I met him.

Sebastian Marino.

"Your mom knew Sebastian?" Serin said sitting up. "Before you were born?"

"Is Sebastian your father?" Parish said sitting up.

"Hold up, let me keep reading," Daniel said trying to calm down.

He knew the game I was trying to play, but he said he could set me up to where I wouldn't have to be like that for the rest of my life. And I didn't have to sleep with him to do it, but I would have to sleep with someone.

He had known everything about me, my name, where I was from, what remaining family members I had, how old I was, and more things I couldn't even imagine. I liked the idea of being set up for the rest of my life. But I didn't know who he wanted me to sleep with. Some older man? Do some creep? I didn't really know until after he flew me back to America. That's where I met a man named Lenard Marino but everyone called him Lenny.

He was the most handsome man in the world to me and he seemed really sweet and caring but at the time he was in love with another woman. Serenity was her name and she had belonged to another man. He was obsessed with her, I didn't know what power this woman held but it must have been magical.

Anyway, over time me and Lenny had gotten to know each other still, he took me out on dates and treated me like a real lady. At one point of time, he told me that I might be the one to help me get over Serenity.

Then he told me about the Family's Backup Mate system, at the time the family head had chosen Serenity to be his wife and they hadn't even signed any papers or had a proper engagement. And Sebastian's goal was to ruin that before that even happen. He instead would try for Serenity or Lenny would have a chance.

"I knew he was a fucking snake," Parish said. "He even got Lenny wrapped up in the same bow."

I knew that this was all a business exchange thought but my heart couldn't help but fall for him. He was always a gentleman and he didn't make it feel like a business deal. One day we were relaxing together in his home when Sebastian came in happier than usual.

He had told us Serenity was in a coma, and this was our time to strike. This was the day that we finally set things in motion. Everything had lined up, my window of conception was open it was time.

When I saw him, I couldn't help but think about Lenny, the objective was to sleep with Francesco. But all I wanted was Lenny and Francesco and he had very similar features to me so I saw Francesco as a close second.

So, he sent me to the club, with a drug, he said that most likely II would find him alone and I had watched him all night. Women would approach him but he turned them down one by one. While he was distracted by one I came from behind and slipped the drug in his drink.

"Your mother, drugged our father," Francesca said sitting up angrily.

"On Sebastian's orders," Serin said continue

"Hurry up and finish reading," Parish said trying to get to the point of it all.

I watched nearby and I saw his behavior changed, and when he saw me his eyes saw someone else he had called me by her name. Serenity. The drug must have made him delusional because he instantly carried me out of the club and took me home.
