CH2 (CODA series)

Part 1

"How are you feeling, mama?" Calum smiles as he enters the kitchen of their home, Carter cutting up Jax dinner for him.

"Massive." Carter deadpans, "But at least we are officially full term." She adds with a soft smile, rubbing a hand over her protruding stomach.

"The relief that is honestly." Calum nods, pulling her into his arms, "Dinner smells amazing by the way. Thirty-eight weeks pregnant, with a toddler, a husband who is never home because of deadlines, and her own band to worry about, and you still manage to cook for me." He hums, kissing the side of her head.

"DADDY!" Jax yells from his spot at the table, catching Calum's attention.

"Hi, bubs!" Calum returns the greeting just as excitedly, moving around Carter to scoop his son into his arms, pressing a kiss to his little cheek.

"Ava maked me cookies!" Jax yells excitedly, as Calum sets him back down on the chair, grabbing his plate from the counter and setting it in front of the little boy.

"What?" Calum gasps, "Aunt Ava made cookies with you while mama was at her appointment?"

"YA!" The toddler grins.

"You are the luckiest little kid in the world. To have so many great aunts and uncles to spoil you."

"Be a little more enthusiastic about the store bought cookie dough he watched Ava put in the oven. I dare you." Carter laughs, bringing two more plates to the table for her and Calum.

"Hey, he is excited about it, so I am excited about it." Calum laughs. "What did Doctor Naylor say today about the checks?"

"I'm about 85% effaced, and dilated to a three, so anytime or in a month." Carter laughs, "I feel like it's going to be soon though, if you look at the photo I took last week and compare it to what I look like now, she's dropped lower into my pelvis, and the pressure is growing steadily."

"But everything with the baby Gracie looks good?"

"Gracie Koa is growing perfectly."

"I hope you come soon, baby girl." Calum leans over, kissing the top of Carter's bump.

"Baby sissy is coming soon?" Jax asks excitedly, looking between his parents.

"Very soon, are you excited to have a baby sister?" Carter asks.

"Ya! Can I show her my room and play with her?" The almost four year old asks.

"When she gets a little bit bigger. When she's first born she is going to sleep a lot, and just want snuggles. But, I know a little boy who is the absolute best snuggler in the whole world!" Calum grins.

"Me! I love to snuggle!" Jax grins excitedly.

"You will get to snuggle baby sister a lot okay?" Carter grins.

"Okay." The small boy grins, going back to his dinner with excitement in his eyes.

"I can't wait to see him be a big brother." Calum smiles over at Carter.

"Me too." Carter agrees.

"Cal, Calum." Carter scratches over his bare back softly, "Cal, you need to wake up, baby."

"What? What's going on?" Calum mumbles sleepily.

"My water broke about half an hour ago, I've been in the bathroom cleaning up the mess a little bit. Ashton and KayKay are almost here to stay with Jax. We need to go meet baby girl." She whispers.
