On 24th January 2019, my city recorded our hottest day on record – 46.6 °C (115.9 °F). However the heat that sticks in my memory was during my childhood. We were at our family shack for the summer, and when I say shack, I mean a tin shed. Our little thermometer was showing 113°F (45 °C) inside the shack. So hot!
I remember carrying one of the kitchen chairs down the small cliff in front of the shack, and sitting on it in the sea, a towel over my head and shoulders for shade and reading my book underneath it.
