As we walked through the gaping double doors, we were greeted by a bouncer of sorts. The man couldn't be more than a few years older than me, and was defiantly an omega. He wore the green sash of the lonebite pack.

"Evening Alpha." He nodded at Alpha Rayne, before setting his gaze onto me. I quickly looked away, but not before noticing his weird expression.

Disgusting..my wolf dry heaved.

"I agree with you on this one." I whispered, staying close to Katherine and my sister.

The techno music was way louder from in here, multicolored lights flashing in sync to it. The vibes this place gave off reminded me of some high end club. Definitely not your classical ritzy ball.

"Holy shiitake mushrooms." Josephine whispered, grabbing a champagne flute from a passing waiter. All of us stood huddled together in the corner, eyes bugging out of our heads. I knew we stood out like a sore thumb, but it was our first time at a crescent ball after all.

I stood in awe, marveling at the cavernous ceiling structure of the ballroom. A crystal chandelier hung in the center, refracting light off of its glassy tendrils. The decorations were a blend of ancient and modern. It was a wonder that this old building was even still standing.

Unmated couples were dancing in the center of the room, the majority of them already intoxicated. It took a lot for werewolves to get drunk, so it was obvious that these people had already had quite a few.

I followed behind the girls, weaving my way through the crowd. My stomach felt uneasy, but I forced myself to ignore it.

This place is amazing..I could feel my wolfs awe.

The actual ball was supposed to last a couple of hours, giving everyone a fair chance at finding their fated.

Once everyone found their match, if at all, the claiming ceremony would begin. The ceremony was a quick process where the two showed acceptance of one another, by vowing on their lives to love and protect each other.

"So what now?" I asked, unsure of what exactly we were supposed to be doing.

"Just act natural." Josie said, smiling at a man walking by. Katherine rolled her eyes.

"We eat duh." She said, dragging me to that cursed buffet table. Everyone grabbed a plate and started piling them high with food much to my embarrassment. The Silverbite women loved to eat. The sight of us stuffing our faces caught the attention of a few people, and I instantly became horrified. I turned away quickly, hoping that nobody had seen me.

I hid behind Josephine, digging into a boneless buffalo wing. Eden tapped on my arm, and Katherine kicked my leg, both of them discretely trying to get my attention.

"Wha-" I turned around silently, forgetting to wipe the barbecue from my face. A young man strode confidently in our direction. He had blonde hair, and piercing blue eyes with a charming smile. The sash he wore was black, indicating he was from the blackmane pack.

"Evening ladies." He bowed slightly.

What an idiot..Tatia scoffed.

Josephine nearly swooned, and Katherine's cheeks were stained pink.

"I hope you don't mind..may I?" He held out his hand to Josephine, and she eagerly took it. Her smile wavered slightly as soon as she realized they weren't mates. Next he gently took Katherine's hand..no sparks either.

That now left me and Eden. He ignored my sister, heading straight for me. Oh lord.

He held out his hand, and I hesitantly took it. Nothing. No magical sparks. Just a normal sweaty hand.
