Chapter 54: Asgardins

Start from the beginning

"Is this the way you say hello to your favourite cousin after all these years," I asked him moving the icicle closer to his throat.

"I'm sure I don't know what you mean, my dear," he snarled, taking hold of my wrist and flipping me over his shoulder.

"Really, you gonna act like you don't know me," I asked him, kicking Loki's legs out from under him from my position on the ground. Before he can reply, I moved on top of him and held an icicle over his chest, aimed right at heart, knowing that if it came down to it that I would never be able to actually stab him.

Using his height and strength to his advantage, Loki threw me off him and quickly flipped our position. He grinned at me as he held the sceptre over my chest.

"If we were really as close as you seem to think we are, would I really have no issue in ending your life right now," he asked me as I reach out and grab his wrist and attempt to freeze him enough to break his grasp. But instead of turning black from frostbite, his arms started to take on a blue colour that slowly spread up his arm. It was almost like the cold was making him stronger rather than weaken him. Then for a split second, so quickly that at first, I thought I had imagined it. That was until Loki's eyes turned red and his entire face turned blue with the tell-tale marks of a frost giant.

"You're a frost giant!" I gasped, finally realising what Odin despised Loki so much and treated him like he was nothing. But I didn't care, Jotun or Asgardian, Loki would always be my cousin. "Loki, if you're in there somewhere, I want you to know that this doesn't change a damn thing. You're my cousin, no your more than that. Loki you are my brother and I love you."

As quickly as he turned blue, Loki's skin turned back to normal. When I looked in to his eyes, the blue glaze over them faulted for a minute and his natural green started to show through. That split second of clarity in his eyes encouraged me to keep going, to try to reach him.

"Jeg vet ikke hva de har gjort mot deg, Loki. Men jeg trenger at du kommer tilbake til meg, jeg savner deg. Jeg trenger deg, Loki. Jeg trenger storebroren min*," I pleaded with him in Norwegian, knowing no one else would be able to understand what I had just said to him. For a second, I thought I had reached him, but his sceptre glowed again and his eyes regained the same blue haze they had only a moment ago.

"Kjære fetter, tankene mine er utvidet. Jeg har sett ting du aldri ville forestille deg. Dessverre vil du ikke leve for å se det!*," he said as he lifted the scepter and I closed my eyes, bracing for the blow that never came.

The weight that was on top of me disappeared and I opened my eyes to see that Loki had been knocked back on to the stone bench behind him. That's when I heard the familiar noise of Steve grabbing his returning shield. As soon as the shield was back in his hands, Steve was at my side and helped me up to my feet. Letting him know I was alright with a quick nod of my head, Steve turned to face Loki once again.

"If you lay a hand on my wife one more time and I'm gonna make you wish that you were never born," Steve told him as he threw his shield at him again, but Loki was fast, faster than any human could possibly be, and quickly knocked it aside with a flick of his scepter.

"Struck a never have I, Captain?" Loki taunted, holding his arms apart inviting Steve to attack him again.

Not missing a beat, Steve threw a punch at Loki briefly hitting the god. But just as quick at Steve had struck him, Loki hit back, Steve forcing him to bend backwards to avoid the incoming blow. I watched as the two men I cared deeply for continued to attack each other as I waited for my chance to move in. But they were moving so fast that I was worried that I would hit Steve by mistake. Steve quickly grabbed his shield again and goes to throw it at Loki for a second time but Loki was prepared and once again knocked the shield away like it was nothing. In the same blow, Loki managed to bring Steve to his knees and held the sceptre to the back of his head. With a quick glance from Steve, I knew what he was playing and started to create an icy blast to hit Loki with at the right time.
