Chapter 10: ASURA'S RETURN - THERE'S A POWER IN THY SOUL?

Ann and Soul just watch, and couldn't help but smile. Not only did Maka find a way to defeat her opponent, but is also finding a better solution for them. Unfortunately, the night was far from over, and worst had yet to come.

*COLE*

Cole catching up with Kid. While Ann, Maka, and Soul were fighting Crona, Cole used this time to catch up with Kid and help stop the Kishin. He was making his way through multiple ruins, when he hears a voice.

???: my time is approaching.

Cole: (stops and looks around) hello? Is someone there?

No response came. Shrugging it off, he keeps going. However, the voice comes again.

???: you can't save them without me.

The boy pushes through regardless, but as he gets closer, he feels a strange pressure. It causes him to stop, and he begins hearing faint whispers. Then, he sees what appeared to be three eyes pulsating and giving off this uneasy feeling.

???: I've been dormant inside you long enough. Awaken now, and I will purge this world of sin!

Cole then starts feeling like his eyes were bleeding, and a figure from his dreams were there as well. However, before he could respond, a hand grabs his shoulder and shakes him out of it.

Kid: Cole! Cole!

The vision stops, and Cole turns to see it was Kid.

Kid: are you alright?

Cole: I think so. Do you feel that?

Kid: yes. It's the madness from the Kishin up ahead. I've never sensed anything like this before.

Liz: you both can feel it? What's it like?

Kid: what's it like? That's not an easy question to answer.

Cole: if this is what madness is, it's no wonder your dad ripped Asura's skin and used it as a bag.

Liz: it sounds like Lord Death used to be a pretty scary guy. Why did he do that?

Kid: because he needed to make a bag to seal Asura in. It had to be sturdy, strong, to lock up Asura's soul and madness.

Cole: but, if this is just what the madness is when he's dormant, imagine what it could do if he wakes up.

Kid: that's why we need to hurry.

Patty: Kid, Cole, there's a heat source heading straight towards us!

Kid: what?!

They two dodge away from a projectile that fired right at them. Form the source, they see it's the wolf man from a while back.

Free: the reaper and the Blind Meister. I'll enjoy killing you both.

Kid: it's the immortal. Dammit, we were so distracted by the Kishin, we didn't even feel his presence.

They began attacking him, but Kid's bullets passed right through without a scratch. Cole then proceeded to do a scan of him, but found nothing. During this fight, Kid tries to use his Death Cannon attack, but that didn't work. Cole then realizes something, and begins to casually walk to the wolf.

Free: what's this? The blind fool has lost his touch? No doubt you've accepted defeat.

Cole: I don't accept anything. I just hate insignificant illusions like yours.

Free: illusion? Preposterous!

Cole: then come over here and strike me. Or is the big bad wolf scared of hitting a humble blind man like myself?
