Her steps clanked against the pavement when she walked slowly past the gravestones, echoing the memories of the past. 'Are we there yet, mummy?' a toddler-aged boy jumped up and down, his hand on hers when they made their way through the graveyard that bathed in gold light. It was an early spring day, the sun was shining from a blue sky, signalling the days were getting warmer and warmer. She smiled down to the toddler beside her before she murmured. 'We're almost there, love. Just wait.'
They soon turned right and sharp left before they parked in front of a stone with two names graved in gold. She bent down to put the flowers to stand against the stone. Then, ever so gently, she moved her fingers on the cool surface, tracing the letters. 'Who are these people, mummy?' the toddler wandered, making Scar chuckle lightly before she scooped the boy into her embrace. 'Do you remember the story of two loving people who one day went to visit the angels, not returning back?' The toddler nodded as it was one of his favourite bedtime stories. 'The story is based on these two people. When you're older, love, we will talk about your parents.' A sad and confused look passed on a toddler's face.
'Aren't you my mummy?' Every time Alex had asked the question, her heart had broken into pieces. Her sweet, darling boy. 'Of course, I am.' She responded simply. Soon after the toddler wanted to explore the graveyard, and Scar let him but swore him to stay close, within eye contact.
After the running steps went further and further, she turned her attention back to the gravestone before, and the names on them.
In loving memory, a father, son, spouse and a friend.
Emerson Allen James 05.05.1990 - 15.09.2021
In loving memory, a mother, daughter, spouse and a friend.
Natalie Catherine Watson 23.10.1990 - 15.09.2021
'Happy birthday, darling.' She whispered, tears appearing in her eyes when her fingers kept moving across Emerson's name. The sun caught the glitter on her wedding ring that pushed a smile to her face. 'It's been a while, love.' She began when she adjusted her squatting position. 'Seb and I got married. We also have a son together, Weston. I know, you would have hated the name.' She chuckled weakly when a memory of them arguing about their potential baby names. 'Alex has grown into a healthy, lively boy. He doesn't understand that you are gone... and it breaks my heart.' her voice whimpered and drop to a whisper. 'Don't worry. I make sure he knows who you are, so he learns to love you too. He calls me mummy. He loves to swim, so the apple didn't drop far from the tree', she laughed when she wiped the tears from her eyes. 'He's wonderful, I love him to death.'
The momentum was passed when she heard stepping behind. She lifted her eyes to meet the eyes of her husband, who had a wicked grin on his lips. 'Look what I found wandering around the neighbourhood', he teased when he carried Alex on his back, who was making random noises. She shifted her eyes back to Emerson's name briefly, her fingers gliding across the cool stone, saying 'see you later' before she stood up and made her way to the pair. 'Alex?' She gave him a stern look, yet the toddler had a sloppy smile on his way, and he explained. 'Mummy, I found a really cool place to hide. It's behind a big tower, it's dark -' She and Seb shared a lot of speaking look with each other whilst Alex babbled away. 'That's wonderful, darling. What was the rule?' Scar pointed out, and the toddler hid instantly behind Seb's back. 'Alex?'
'To stay in mummy's eyesight.' She heard a mumbled explanation behind Seb's back. She sighed. 'Alex, you know the rules. No bedtime story tonight.'
'Mummy!' She shot another look towards the toddler, who once again hid behind Seb's back. 'Daddy, mummy is mean!' Seb laughed, shook his head before his twinkling eyes landed on hers briefly. 'Buddy, you got mummy anxious when you took off so far away.'
'Okay, daddy.' Scar held a huff and chose to roll her eyes. She was always the big bag wolf or mamma bear.
The familiar heat radiated to her body when she looked at Seb, and she intervened hands. She snugged him closer so they would walk side by side, gazing at each other and flashing smiles here and there on their way out from the
Graveyard. 'I love you.' His words washed over her like a warm summer, warming her inside out. She beamed at him, eyes glowing in love when she murmured affectionately. 'And I, you, Mr Vettel.' His grin widened before he closed their gap, connecting their lips to a passionate kiss. Their moment was over before it even started when Alex yelled from Seb's back. 'Cross! Daddy! Mummy!' They chuckled at the toddler, continuing their journey towards the car and home where the other three children were waiting for them, probably with a stressed-out babysitter.
Their hands intervened across the consol once they were in the car. The smile tucked on her lips, she turned her face towards the window, letting the sun wash over her face, closing her eyes to embrace the warmth on her face. She was finally floating above the surface, risen above from the deep end and everything in-between.

Thank you so much for tagging along with Scar and Seb's story!💛💛 Super happy with all the reads, votes and comments, they were a huge motivation for me when I struggled to get the chapters together🤗
As much as I would love to announce a new story straight away, it'll have to wait for a bit. I'll have plenty of ideas, but it will take a while until they're in a stage that they can be pushed out😉
