Zurich, Switzerland/ London, UK - January 2021

'C'mon, you need to come back eventually. Your job starts in a couple of days.' Emily pleaded through facetime, looking despondent. 'I miss my friend. No one parties with me at the moment.' She whined, and Scar chuckled at her statement as Scar knew it was untrue based on Emily's recent Instagram feed. 'I'm flying back tomorrow. Then we can go out as much as you would like. Can you wait until then?' She smirked and continued after a hesitation. 'I hate to ask you about this... Has the flat situation sorted out?' Emily waved her hand on the screen. 'Ages ago. Your flat was sold over a month ago, and you signed the contract to the new place before Christmas. Can't you remember?' Scar blushed as the days before Christmas had been filled with Seb being wrapped up in-between the sheets or any other possible surface, him pushing her over the oblivion with every single thrust, and he had drilled a permanent mark on her. Even the thought of him made her inner walls hitch, and the familiar heat poured towards her lower abdomen. Talking about a perfect distraction.

'I can't say that I remember.' She mumbled, hoping her face had remained pale when her mind was miles away, reliving how Seb's hands had felt on her skin, his lips on hers... Stop it, Scar, snap out of it. 'I had a lot of things on my mind before the holidays.' Her mind wandered back to Seb. Who was she kidding again? Even then, she was only thinking about Seb's dick thrusting in her, driving her to euphoria. She shook her head to drop the vivid images back to the back of her mind. Emily broke their gaze when someone called her from a distance. 'Okay, then. I'll see you in a couple of days. Love ya.' The screen became pitch black, and Scar lowered the phone to her lap. She tugged her legs beneath her, and she curled up further in the armchair that was placed in front of a fireplace, having a good look to outside where it was once again snowing, deepening the existing white blanket further on her yard.

She couldn't believe it had been over three months since she and Emerson had walked out of their marriage. A lot of had happened since then in her life... A new job, new house, friends with benefits with Seb to whatever it should be called... He confused her, yet he was the perfect distraction. When they were together, she often caught him looking at her with a longing in his eyes. She was afraid that he would become dependent on her. One of the reasons she was happy to leave Switzerland so she could escape her conflicted feelings towards the particular German. Out of sight, out of mind. That was Scar's way of dealing with her feelings. Her prickly consequence made a regular appearance when she convinced herself that she was ready to head back to London.

With a sigh, she stood up and headed to her bedroom to finish packing as she was flying back to her 'real-life' as everyone else put it. Despite the situation with Seb, she had felt safe when she had stayed in Switzerland. She had lived in her bubble, allowing herself to progress through the divorce, begin the healing and stitching herself back together, yet she wasn't the same anymore. Her heart wasn't in the right place. Her smiles didn't react to her eyes, and the spark in her eyes was dimmer. The dark veil had landed on her, creating an invisible blanket that wasn't lifted until she chose to show others her weaknesses. Until then, everything was fine. She was fine.

She wasn't okay, though. The anxiety began early the following morning when she was on her way to the airport. The panic was visible in her eyes and reflecting from the window when she looked at the passing scenery on the other side. She wasn't ready to go back, nor she wanted to return to a place that reminded her of her broken soul.

The tension built in her body when she stood in front of the check-in, lifting her suitcase to the scale. 'Is London your final destination?' The woman asked her, smiling. No. 'Yes, it is. I'm heading home.' She flashed a tight smile, trying to channel an enthusiastic vibe to her statement. The fear of leaving her safe haven escalated to shallow breaths when she had sat down to wait for the plane to board. In and out, in and out. Breathe, Scar. You got this. She laughed as she found herself in a ridiculous state and total mess, tearing up at the airport. She didn't deal with her emotions by crying, yet she had found recently sobbing was the only way to make her feel better, heal. She pushed the hat down on her head, drowning it further to her recognisable features, aiming to be incognito for the flight.
