Monte Carlo, Monaco - May 2021
Bloody hell. Scar breathed slowly out when she walked into the crazy madness on a press day. 'What's going on?' She wandered out loud when she had to duck right to avoid a camera hitting her face, turning her gaze towards Emily, who had joined her. 'It's Monaco.' Emily shrugged and clearly struggled to keep her gags in her. Scar smirked. 'What is this time?' Emily's morning sickness had calmed down a nudge since Barcelona, but certain smells still made her sick. 'Gosh, someone is drinking coffee. Dammit, this is gonna torture.' She moaned when nausea hit her again. After the doctor's appointment in London and endless crying sessions at Scar's flat, Scar downing bottles of wine to calm her nerves, Emily had decided to keep the baby and adjust to the single parenthood.
Scar shot a cropped smile towards her friend. 'They say that nausea usually lasts the first trimester, and then you are settled down more.'
'Still, I love coffee. I'm gonna miss it like crazy - and sushi.' Emily's groans increased, making Scar chuckle. This pregnancy would be a long one for both of them.
'So, have you spoken to this mystery guy?' They couldn't speak about Lewis openly at the paddock since their hookups weren't common knowledge. Emily shook her head quickly. 'Not really... I skipped some of his events in-between Barcelona and here due to the hospital visits. Someone else handled his PR matters, and, oh boy, he was an unhappy man. He's moody since we arrived here. Also, I'm thinking of stepping down before I start showing to avoid the gossip...' Emily murmured, taking a look over her shoulder to see if someone was listening to them. 'Darling -' Scar inhaled sharply of her words. 'Who else would torment me the Grand Prix weekends?' She gasped in shock.
Emily shrugged. 'It's still in thinking state, Scar. I'll find someone else to tease you whilst I would be stuck in London.' Emily cheekily winked to lighten up the mood, but it was instantly changed when Lewis' voice boomed behind them. 'Who would be stuck in London?' The duo turned around, a nervous smile on their faces as they hoped the Briton hadn't heard their hushed conversation. Scar rolled her eyes when she stared at him with a hint of annoyance. Barcelona had approved enough for her that they were two different people. Scar struggled to see the good in him as Emily did. 'Our friend has a potential new job opportunity in London that she's thinking of accepting.' Scar blurred out the first thing that popped into her head. Scar felt Emily's heated look on her when she maintained eye contact with Lewis, who looked puzzled and uninterested in her knowledge sharing before his attention transferred to her friend.
Scar swayed her body from side to side when her orbs swapped their focus between the pair who was hooking up. Emily and Lewis had their eyes locked, sunk in their own word. Who were they kidding? Their chemistry was out of this world, touchable by hand, radiating miles from them. She clapped her hands together to bring the couple from their nonverbal communication back to the present time. 'Speaking of work... I better go. Catch up later, love?' She blew an air kiss to Emily, who caught it and winked at her. 'Later, babes.'
Scar moved forward, but she also fell into her thoughts whilst strolling forward. Whereas Emily had to adjust to motherhood, Scar had her own challenges to deal with her own relationships dilemmas with certain blonde German. Although they had had their brief and spontaneous moment in Barcelona, she had blown him in Spain, despite her promises to catch up with him. She had ended up avoiding him again since Emily's pregnancy news had appeared after the race.
Above all, Scar was confused. She didn't know what to think of him or how to approach her dilemma other than just blurting out she may have developed feelings for him more than friends. Still, they couldn't be together as she loved her job more than anything else at the moment? She laughed in disbelief as it already sounded ridiculous to her ears. How would it sound to him? Therefore, she had successfully once again dodged his calls and texts, claiming on being super busy, hiding behind her veil, sinking further into her own web, diving closer to the deepness rather than the light. She wasn't ready to float just yet. Also, she was nervous about the hearing that was set to happen during the Grand Prix weekend, just after Sunday's race. She gulped when she thought about the idea that after the weekend, she would be jobless.
