'Thank you, Emily. So you'll get in touch with the listed people soon? I would like everything sorted out before the games. Fewer distractions.' Emily nodded along with Scar's words when she made notes. 'That should be fine. I'll prep the press matters upfront, so we are prepared. I'll talk with Bob, and we'll regularly catch up with the process.' Scar looked at the watch.
'I have to go. Emerson and I are celebrating our anniversary tonight.' She smiled fondly at the thought. Emily rolled her eyes. Scar knew that she wasn't the most prominent romantic, not like her. 'Go, go. Enjoy the fairytale romance tonight', Emily said to her with a mocking smile on her face. 'I'll keep you posted.' Scar shot her grateful smile, ignoring her last comment when she gathered her items to make her departure. 'Thank you again, and I'll speak to you later then.' Scar was desperate for 1:1 time with her beloved husband.
When she later walked hand-in-hand with Emerson, they beamed at each other, looking every inch in love like they did all those years ago when they met over a decade ago. She drowned in her thoughts, thinking back to their decade long relationship. Scar was so thankful that Emerson had walked into her life when she had needed support the most. When world domination had begun in her career, the overwhelming feeling never truly faded away. Yet, he had made everything more bearable with his twinkle in the eyes, daddy jokes and sarcastic remarks. For her, he was the missing another half that she had needed in her life, yet she didn't know she needed it at the time.
Since the Olympics were held in Tokyo, the training camp was also on Japanese soil. They were currently in Yokoyama, in Greater Tokyo's outreach, where the prepping camp was arranged for swimmers. The jet-lagged had caused some nightmares for the couple as Emerson struggled to adjust, which meant some sleepless nights for Scar. After a few days of minimal sleep and snapping at each other, they had adjusted to the time zone.
The problem was that the only private space they had was their rooms, which Scar, and Emerson shared. Therefore Scar had started to feel claustrophobic due to the lack of space. However, all those problems were a distant memory on that night. She was drawn back to the present when she felt a gentle squeeze on her hand. She flashed a loving smile towards the handsome husband, whom she wouldn't have survived the past years.
'Where are you taking us tonight?' She made conversation when they stopped at the crossroads, waiting for a green light. Emerson winked cheekily before he planted a teasing kiss on her lips. 'It's a surprise.' She groaned. 'C'mon. You know I'm horrible with surprises.' 'No', he laughed before he stole another kiss now from her pouting lips, and he struggled to maintain a straight face. She gasped when they finally reached the restaurant. 'You remembered?!' She hopped up and down when they stood before one of the best sushi restaurants in the area. 'I listen once a while.' He winked and gathered her to his side. She leaned her head against his shoulder, turning her face towards him, beaming out of happiness before she reached Emerson's kissable lips. 'Thank you.' She whispered admiringly, joy shining from her eyes. Emerson nudged his head. 'C'mon. Let's go in.'
Scar wasn't sure what she was supposed to do during their dinner. She wanted to sob out of happiness that Emerson had remembered that she had wanted to visit a random restaurant in Yokoyama if they ever came to Tokyo together. The food was excellent, the atmosphere fantastic as she shared with a person she was in love with. The hovering countdown towards the end of her career wasn't present, neither was the nagging feeling that she hadn't told him about her decision.
That night, everything was about two of them, until -. 'I heard something strange today', Emerson began, keeping his eyes glued to his fingers, moving lazily across her palm. 'Do tell', she smiled, inquisitive about hearing the latest events at the team. 'Bob hasn't signed you up for any of the meets in September. Why?' Scar's body stiffened when she heard the blood running in her ears. 'Well-'
'Scar? What's going?' She pulled her hand away, landing both of hers on her lap, playing with them. 'I'll take a break from swimming', she shifted her focus solely to the table, finding the table cloth fascinating. A sharp breath opposite of her implied the news was unexpected, rightfully so. The atmosphere changed to gloomy and anxious. 'For how long?' Emerson whispered, and Scar finally closed her eyes to push the pain and emptiness aside. 'Indefinitely.' Her voice shook as they had never discussed something so groundbreaking, life-changing events without consulting each other first.
Silence. She peeked through her long lashes to see distressed Emerson. She reached to grab his hand yet flinched when he moved it from her reach. He wasn't angry as she had expressed; he was saddened, which was worse. 'Love-'
'Why didn't you tell me, Scarlette?' His piercing words were like a dagger straight through her chest. 'It was a shock -' He huffed. 'I could have helped.' She hung her head in shame. 'I know.' She whispered, wishing they wouldn't have the conversation then. She wanted to enjoy his company without fights. 'It was evitable. The choice was made for me. I wasn't given a second option. I needed time to process... I'm still doing it.' she rambled as she owned him an explanation, a dozen of them. 'I believe it would be nice to have only one of us travelling.' She tried to make a poor joke, earning a blank stare from her husband.
'Listen -' She began, feeling she was losing the argument. 'I know I screw up - massively. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you. I mustered the word 'retirement' first time today.' A bittersweetness filled her, making her push her hair out of her face, and Emerson's face softened when her apology lingered in the air. The mood returned slowly towards romance and unity. 'I love you.' She blurred out of the blue, hoping he knew how she felt about him and caught Emerson's eyes. He looked stunned by her odd confession.
He reached to her hand and circled her palm slowly, lazily, building up the aching feeling in her. She moaned quietly and turned her hazed eyes to him. 'love', she purred, done with the dinner and the drama. 'Should we christen our bed tonight?' The cheeky comment made him crack up and finally lose the tension between them. Then he waved for the bill. 'My thoughts as well.' He reached over, and she met him halfway across the table to a passionate kiss. 'Shall we?' he murmured against her lips, making her nod when she transfixed to stare at his lips.
He led her out of the restaurant towards a taxi. Emerson lifted her shamelessly to his lap when they were in the car, both legs spreading both sides of his hips. Her dress rose up, so her knickers were visible to him, making him curse when he saw the lace peaking in front of him. 'Fuck, Scar', he kissed her as his life depended on her. In return, she rolled her hips towards his shaft, chuckling before she whispered to his ear: 'You can always play with me as I can't wait to feel you inside of me.'
She nipped his earlobe playfully, making him curse under his breath. Then, he closed the gap again with his lips, pulling the couple into their bubble, blissfully unaware of the looks from the driver. Their argument was forgotten at the restaurant. They both giggled and gazed at each other adoringly when the tax came to a sudden stop. 'This is you', the driver's unamused voice boomed from the front seat. With Emerson's help, Scar climbed out of him and slipped out of the car, holding his hand. Emerson scooped her under his arm when they lazily strolled towards their room, stealing kisses every chance they got. Once in their room, their clothes flew off at a records speed. Once they were naked, they picked up what was escalated in the taxi.
Emerson laid down on the bed, looking gorgeous in the moonlight, his manhood clearly visible in the evening light. The heat poured across Scar's body when she took the sight before her. She locked the door with a mischievous smile on her face. 'Gosh, you're a beautiful sight, my love. Are you ready to play?' She also saw her husband's darkened look when she made her way to him, and her smile grew more comprehensive; the sex would be wickedly amazing.
