The Truth Comes Out

The screaming had made her feel a tad better, but the bumbling feeling of anxiety and restlessness crept in her, sneaking into her thoughts. She took her phone out and dialled a number. 'Emily, I swear to god if you tell me you're busy, I'll find another publicist and best friend. Meet at Goldengrove in 30minutes. Or I'll lose it.' She hung up without giving her a chance to reply. She continued her journey with an exact destination in mind, a pub. She genuinely hoped Emily would appear on time as she didn't want to be alone, and she needed her help. She groaned when she realised what kind of PR nightmare Emily would have on her hands once she would share her news.

Emily sat at the dimmest corner of the pub when Scar made her way in. Emily looked furious and frowned when Scar sat down. 'So what was so life-threatening that you dragged me into this hell hole in the middle of daylight? Emily's accusing eyes throwing daggers at her. 'Sease the fire', Scar sighed, holding her hands up to signal she didn't want to fight. 'We have bigger problems in our hands than your or my temper. I'm divorcing Emerson.'

Scar had rarely seen Emily speechless, but she would have enjoyed it if she wasn't heartbroken and angry on this occasion. 'How?'

'No freaking clue. I caught him in the middle of having sex with Natalia an hour ago in our bed', Scar spatted in disgust, seething rage. She wasn't sad, she was furious. 'I hope to go home in an hour... and expect him to be gone by then.' Emily rolled her eyes. 'You deserve your nickname, the ice queen. You caught your husband cheating. You haven't even shredded a tear. The first person you call is your publicist and a friend to figure out how to communicate matters to the public? Based on what you saw, you just decided you'll divorce your husband of 5 years in a blink of an eye? Wow, this is cold, even for you.'

Scar was stunned, and she looked at Emily with furrowed eyebrows. 'Cheez, thanks for the kind words, Emily. Much appreciated. Maybe, just maybe on this occasion, you could have asked 'how are you doing?' I'm heartbroken, thanks for asking', Scar's comment was filled with sarcasm when in reality she would have preferred to be in her husband's arms and never deal with the living nightmare. 'I may have done something with someone else whilst in Monza...' Scar's voice mumbled out and her gaze hazed when she relived the moments again, her life crisis forgotten for a split second - the shivers and goosebumps on her skin, the toe twirling orgasms and the 100% attention on her.

'You did what?!' Emily hissed, eyes wide when she registered Scar's words. 'Aren't you quite a pair? Both sleeping with other people.' Scar shrugged as all earnestly, she didn't care a shit at the moment. 'Totally fucked up. So divorce?' She wanted to focus on one topic. Her life was literally falling apart. All the pillars that had kept her going over the years, they were all gone; her career, marriage... She was lost and no longer floating happily on the surface, she was sinking and fast. She knew Emerson and her couldn't continue their relationship any longer. The trust had been their foundation, and it was broken. She yearned for unconditional trust. Also, she wasn't sure if she could try to fix their marriage when she knew back of her mind; she wasn't necessarily his first choice any longer.

'It would be best if you had a lawyer', Emile stated the obvious, earning an eye roll from Scar. 'Yes. That's true. It should be pretty straightforward as we signed the prenuptial agreement before we got married. All the houses are under my name as I bought them alone before we got married.'

'Houses?' Emily shot a surprised look towards her. 'Houses. I own properties here and a couple of other countries', Scar shrugged, like it was the normal thing to do. 'Most of them are investment properties with tenants.'

'I always forget that you have shits loads of money', Emily murmured, looking taken back of Scar's wealth. 'So do I', Scar laughed, and she felt she was able to breath first time since she walked out of the flat. Emily's features softened slightly. 'I'm sorry if I was too harsh on you. You two were everyone's dream as everything was so perfect, all the time.' Scar placed her hand on top of Emily's and squeezed it. 'Don't worry about it', Scar's voice shook as her mind was slowly catching up with what had happened, and heartache was taking over the anger. The hole in her chest grew bigger. The heart had been ripped out of her chest and left empty. Then Scar withdrew her hand and opened her phone to look at a photo of her and Emerson. Her fingers slid across Emerson's features softly when she said sadly: 'Yeah, I thought the same.'
