You both sat on the rooftop of a building as you watched the sunset. You were telling him a story that made your eyes sparkle. When the aforementioned setting sun finally set, he knew then and there that he had fallen in love with you.
He had fallen in love with Captain Levi Ackerman's spouse.
He thought you were too nice for this cruel world. You were still kind to him despite the fact that he had brutally massacred your friends. You said you had forgiven him. He doesn't believe it. He knows that someone like you is bound to have hatred and resentment nestled deep inside your heart, even if it's just a sliver of anger.
If it is true and you really are just nice, then no matter what it takes, he will protect you from this terrible, terrible world. No matter what.
