BLAKE

I saw Calum running up to me, a plastic bag in his hand and a grin on his lips. "I found more shirts for you" he told me.

"Thanks, loser" I took the bag off him, smiling as I did so.

Calum pouted like a child. "I haven't seen you all day," He nudged me slightly, "How was your date with Ashie?"

"Ashton" I corrected with a roll of my eyes, nudging him back, "And it was great, actually"

"You seem surprised," Calum observed. He seemed overly happy this morning, almost bouncing with joy. "Did you think he was going to be an asshole? Because you know there's still a chance-"

"Actually," I paused, wondering if I should mention. Finally, after a minute of silence, I took a deep breath. "He said you were the asshole and that you were going to hurt me one day...What happened between you two?"

"Look, Blake," Calum seemed desperate as he searched for an answer. "I promise that I didn't do anything bad. It's just a grudge he holds against me. It's fine"

I frowned, almost skeptical, but shrugged and began walking off anyway. "Wait!" Calum called, "Come back to my house, ma chérie"

"My sweetheart?" I stared at him incredulously. "You do remember I'm French, right?"

"I didn't think you spoke it," Calum grumbled, though he was still smiling, "But please come to mine?"

"Sure, perdant" I pulled my phone out to text my mum.

BLAKE: going to a friends. be home later

MUM: is it a boy?

BLAKE: yeah

MUM: keep the door open or stay around his parents. i don't want a little blake running around. i mean, you're bad enough"

BLAKE: oh tais toi

Calum was still grinning when he opened the car door for me. "Now, I don't know what you just said, but it was something nice, right?"

"Whatever helps you sleep at night, Cal" I crawled into the car with a laugh. As Cal ran around the car, I grabbed the aux cord quickly and plugged my phone in, putting on Black Sun by Death Cab for Cutie. When Calum entered the car, he frowned as he spotted my phone with the aux cord plugged in. I smiled innocently and turned my head away from him, smirking when he sighed.

"Pour l'amour de Dieu," I cursed as my foot collided with something very solid and very hard. "Why the hell is your room so bloody dark?"

"It's the basement, silly," Calum replied, gracefully walking around the object I had kicked, switching the light on, "Now please stop speaking french. You know I don't know it"

"Ce n'est pas surprenant. Tu ne connais pas beaucoup de choses"

"You insulted me just then, didn't you?" He frowned as he dropped down into a beanbag, staring up at me, "I don't appreciate you insulting me without my knowledge"

I just shrugged and sat down on the end of his bed, looking around. There were no windows, only one door and stairs. A TV was hanging on the wall, above a shelf of video games. Band posters were placed messily on his walls, like he had just thrown them up without any care.

"What do you want to do?" Calum asked, still staring at me.

"What?" My head whirled towards him and away from the posters. "You invited me here"

"Because I didn't want you to be with Ashton"

"And why not?"

Calum paused. I could see his hand reaching towards the remote as he thought carefully about his next words. "I'm scared he'll replace me" He lied. I chose to ignore it, but I pursed my lips and stared at him curiously. There was something he wasn't telling me and I was going to find out.
