CALUM

Blake smiled at my mum kindly as she picked up a piece of carrot with her fork. My mum - being the nicest person I know - had quickly whipped up a vegetarian meal for Blake when she had kindly pointed out she doesn't eat meat. I, of course, refused to give up my chicken.

"This is very nice, Mrs Hood, thank you" She complimented, making my mum beam with happiness. I watched in boredom as she and mum exchanged a couple of more friendly moments before I noticed them both watching me.

"Cal?" My mum said, amusement lacing her voice. I went to reply, forgetting I had food in my mouth. Chicken fell back onto my plate and Blake looked away in disgust, grimacing. I couldn't tell if it was because of the fact that I was eating chicken or because of my lack of table manners. My mum muttered something unintelligent under her breath before continuing, "You gave all your band tees to Blake, didn't you?"

Blake looked confused, looking at me again. She was frowning and I knew she would give them back if she knew that I gave her most of my shirts. I could easily buy new ones, anyway. I swallowed before speaking, heat rushing to my cheeks. "Not all of them," I replied shyly, sounding like a young boy admitting he had broken a very expensive vase, "Just, you know, the ones I never wore"

Mum pursed her lips and shrugged. Blake was still staring at me curiously before peering down at the shirt she wore. It was a Vaccines shirt, a shirt I truly didn't wear anymore, but still cherished. I bit my lip and looked down at my plate, feeling embarrassed and shy under her sharp gaze.

Throughout dinner, Blake spoke to my mum, asking for embarrassing childhood stories of me. I quieted my mum before she began any story, worried of what she was going to say. I did a lot of embarrassing things as I kid. When we were all finished, Blake insisted on helping my mum clean. "You made me such a lovely dinner, the least I could do is clean"

As I watched Blake, her back hunched as she leaned over the sink, scrubbing away at a plate, I noticed her looking back at me, a frown etched on her delicate, dark lips. "You could help, you know?"

My mother laughed, quite loudly. "Oh, darling. Calum doesn't do housework. He says he is, and I quote, 'too manly'" She used air quotes around manly and I frowned. "Calum? Manly? Yeah right"

Before I could reply, Blake had already opened her mouth. "That's just a bit sexist, Calum. You don't have to be a female to do housework. Now get your ass over here and finish doing the dishes"

Almost reluctantly, I shuffled over to where Blake stood, my mum watching me with curious amusement. I grabbed the sponge off Blake, as well as the cup she was holding out to me, and began cleaning. "Huh," My mum huffed out, "Seventeen years of trying to get him to do it and nothing, and then a pretty girl tells him to and he's all for it"

Blake chuckled and took over the job of drying. She would point out spots I had missed or praised me when I did a good job. I always thought mum took forever doing the dishes, but only ten minutes later Blake and I had retreated back down to my room after the kitchen was completely tidy. She flung herself onto the bed immediately and I stood awkwardly next to it. I stared at the spot next to her before climbing onto it.

"Hey, Calum. Did you know-" before she had a chance to continue, I cut her off.

"I know many things"

"That you're an idiot?" She finished, smiling smugly at me. She slipped of the bed to turn my TV on, running her hands along the various games. I smiled and crawled off the bed quietly, tip-toeing over to her. I threw my arms around her and laughed in her ear as she let out a panicked squeak. I picked her up with ease before dropping her onto the bed and pinning her down, my legs on either side of her.

"Get off me, tu es morceau de merde" She hissed, though made no attempt to fight me off.

Groaning, I frowned down at her. "Stop speaking French," She only smiled. "Okay, I'll release you once you tell me what you just said"

"Oh, but Cal, I can tell you like this position" Blake smirked. She winked at me and I felt my cheeks heating up. I pushed myself off but she was already laughing.

"Shut up" I whined. God this girl is an adorable pain in the ass.
