"One thing, Sophia. I asked you to do one thing and you disobeyed me."

"But I was just-"

"Silence!"

Sophia scowled and pressed her lips together in a thin line. She was currently seated in the living-room, watching her father pace up and down the carpet in front of her. His face was etched in a deep frown and he crossed his arms over his chest before turning to face his daughter.

"I'm not a fool, Sophia. I know that there is clearly some kind of history between you and Rachel. A blind man could've seen the daggers you were throwing at her all evening."

"But if you just-"

"I said silence!"

Sophia frowned, but held her tongue.

Her father sighed. "Now I suggest you keep whatever grudge you have against Rachel at school. She was nothing but polite and respectful towards us last night and I expect for you to be the same with any meeting with them from now on. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes, sir," Sophia forced the words through gritted teeth.

"Good, now get to school before you're late."

Sophia gave a stiff nod and grabbed her backpack, which lay by her feet, before trudging out the house without another word.

-

"Woah, Soph, you okay?" Luke asked the moment Sophia pulled her helmet off her head.

"Fine," Sophia bit out as she adjusted her strap and marched into the school building.

She felt so humiliated and frustrated. Her father didn't even give her a chance to explain herself. Rachel was already twisting him around her little finger. It was bad enough that her father was dating Susan, but it was even worse that he was already starting to view Rachel of all people, in higher regard than his own daughter.

It was all just so unfair. She's been working her whole life to get recognition from her father, but Rachel is with him for an hour and he already takes her side in arguments.

"You don't seem fine," Luke stated as he watched Sophia swing open her locker door and it made a loud clap when it hit another locker.

Sophia proceeded to stuff books in her bag. "I said I'm-" she cut herself off when she looked up and saw Rachel standing by her own locker, calmly rearranging her books. Sophia scowled and slammed her locker shut. "I'll be back."

"Wait, where are you-?"

Sophia didn't respond as she marched towards Rachel, her blood boiling. Thankfully there weren't many people in the hallway, but the few that were there, scampered out of her way quickly.

"You have some nerve, you know that?"

Rachel looked up and saw a seething Sophia glaring at her.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she stated, causing Sophia to frown.

"Don't play dumb with me. I know you. You're trying to get my own dad to gang up against me, get him wrapped around your little finger by pretending to be the perfect girl."

"I don't know what you mean." Rachel's eyes widened and Sophia scoffed.

"Oh, please, the knitting for orphans, the baking? You and I both know you've never done a thing for anyone else without some sort of gain for yourself."

"And what if that wasn't a lie? You don't know anything about me." Rachel closed her locker and gave Sophia a challenging look.

Sophia rolled her eyes and placed her hands on her hips. "Give me some credit, Rachel. There is no orphanage within twenty kilometres of here and you bought that pumpkin-pie from Home Industry. I should know; I've bought it there plenty of times already. You didn't even change the decorating on it."

Rachel's' eyes widened in shock. "I don't-"

"I don't know what game you're playing," Sophia cut her off with a glare. "If this is all some kind of payback for me taking your place as Queen Bee then just say so, but I'm warning you, Rachel." Sophia's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Stay away from my dad."

Sophia didn't wait for a response as she spun on her heel and walked off without another word.
