Years passed, and we remained friends. Thanks to Paul, my bashfulness vanished. I could speak to anybody, but I always stuck by Paul. Believe it or not, even with my biggest flaw gone, I still didn't have any other friends but him.

But I didn't need anyone else. I didn't want anyone else.

It turned out we had a lot in common, too. Remember when I mentioned my love of the outdoors? Well, we shared that. We'd often go out together, and one perfect summer night, our parents took us camping, and he made the biggest move-

I was interrupted by Jake and Veronica gasping.

"What?"

"He didn't..."

"Let me continue and you'll find out."

Our parents were busy setting up, while we were frolicking in our own little world, climbing to the top of a ginormous hill.

"Come, Y/N, sit with me."

I sat next to him on a patch of grass, and slowly, we observed as the sun set.

At the time, it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.

As nightfall took its place, I could ever so slightly feel his thumb graze against my palm.

"I really like you, y'know." He trembled, looking away.

"Really?" Was all I could say at the moment, trying to process the sentence that came out of his mouth.

"I've liked you since I met you..."

Honestly, I had liked him too. He was a little cutie.

"I like you too, Paul."

He opened his mouth as to say something, but instead, he kissed me. Right on time, too, since our parents yelled for us to come down.

"Don't tell anyone. Now, wanna race down?"

"You're on."

I won his hill rolling race, still in complete shock that he would do that to me, and how surprisingly good he was at it too.

That was certainly a night to remember.
