Chapter 28, "What Happens in Vegas"

"Vegas?!" I shouted, whipping around in my seat to stare at Tony in disbelief. "This is your plan?!"

He glanced at my furious face and with a smirk, nodded. "What's wrong with it?"

"Everything!" I exclaimed. "What are you planning on doing here, gambling our way out of jail?" When he remained silent my jaw dropped. "Please don't tell me that's what you were actually planning..."

He shrugged. "Eh...kinda-"

"Kinda?!"

Tony swiped his arm up just in time to block the punch that was heading in his direction. He grabbed my hand and held it tightly, preventing me from doing any damage. I was glad I had the excuse to be angry with him, or else he would've noticed how red my face got at our hand contact.

Curse this emotions of mine.

He glanced at me with a reassuring smile as he squeezed my hand. "Relax would you? Before you blow a gasket..." I opened my mouth to yell at him, but he beat me to it. "Everything will be okay. I swear."

He held my gaze, for much longer than he should've considering he was driving, to prove how sincere he was. With a sigh, I nodded and broke eye contact. I noticed that he continued to hold my hand, even though it was probably only to prevent me from smacking him again.

I wish it wasn't.

I sighed again, leaning against the window as Tony whizzed by traffic.

Twenty minutes later we pulled into a parking lot filled with other vehicles, both expensive and not. I glanced around, noticing we were in a casino parking lot. With wide, furious eyes, I spun around to face a very nonchalant Tony.

"Are you serious right now?!" I screeched, causing Burrito and Minnie to poke their heads between our two seats. "I thought you were kidding!"

Tony smirked. "Not a chance."

I groaned, running a hand through my hair. I honestly couldn't believe him. There are bad ideas, then there are Tony's ideas. Every single plan he has had since we started this blasted road trip has been a terrible idea. Even before the trip!

"Look!" Tony exclaimed, pointing to the casino. "It allows pets!"

Burrito clapped beside me.

"See? Burrito's happy, Minnie's happy...why can't you be happy?" Tony asked, nudging my shoulder. I sighed, looking down at my feet. As much as I hate to admit it, emphasize on hate, Tony did have a pretty valid point. There isn't a real reason not to be happy.

"I guess you're right..." I mumbled, kicking a rock away.

"Oh don't be such a sour puss!" Tony exclaimed as he wrapped an arm around my shoulder. He pulled me close to his chest and began walking, his free hand holding two leashes that I didn't even realize were connected to Burrito and Minnie. "Besides!" He continued happily, grinning down at me. "What's the worst that could happen?"
