Her eyes retracted as she swung back and gazed at the back. Sure enough there was his car, all sleek black and moving towards them. “Abel…No!” she said. “Hey listen I’ll try to outrun him stay calm ok,” he said. She took a deep breath and leaned back, Somehow things did not seem to be going alright. She felt like...like …her mind drifted back to what he had said, “She was his,” Those words were still ringing in her head as she sat there. All she had tried to do was tell him and heck she had never gotten to that point and he had said that she was playing games too. That made her think, “What if he did know that she was not pregnant, what if he had heard… what if,” these doubts clouded her mind and made her clutch her hands together. She looked back once more and he was two cars back. “Don’t worry Julia we’ll get through this,” Abel said. He sped up and might have gotten through the traffic light but its red light glared at him and made him stop. Julia’s eyes darted back and for a fleeting second she didn’t see his car. She breathe a sigh of relief and settled back. “He’s gone relax,” she thought. She closed her eyes.

Gabriel’s POV

The moment Julia was out the door I dropped that snob’s hand and made my way out. There was no way I was going to let that son of a bi.ch get her. They raced through the crowds while this clingy b.tch hung on to me. The moment I was out I headed for my car but she would not let up. “Listen,” I practically shouted as I turned, “I’m sorry we are over, done, finished ok!” she looked at me with moist eyes before I turned and stormed off, a few minutes later and I was driving away. I followed them past several streets that I knew were not leading to Julia’s homes. I did not know if they had seen me but I was following. I sped up but two cars passed me and made me lag behind. I cursed. By then I knew they probably knew I was following so I hung back a bit. The traffic stilled and yet I followed. I contemplated coming out of my car but that made no sense, I was thinking crazy thoughts, all I wanted was to see her, if she wouldn’t confess she was not pregnant I wanted to tell her it was alright, that I knew everything, I knew why she did it but most importantly I wanted to tell her how I felt.

Julia breathed a sigh of relief and settled back. “Here we are,” Abel announced. She opened her eyes and stared at him with a puzzled expression. “You came back here? Are you insane Abel?” she said. He shook his head and looked at her. “It’s the only place he won’t think to look trust me,” he said. Julia shook her head and tried to rationalize his excuse. “Maybe he was right,” she tried to convince herself. For the second time that evening she got out the car and headed to the entrance. Abel grabbed her hand as she tried to breathe. “It’s ok Julia just breathe,” she said as they entered the doors. The room was aglow in a variety of colors and everyone was just where she had left them. “At least they were having fun,” she thought.

One foot down the step, she held Abel’s hand tight as she took the other. She was almost to the second step when suddenly her grip on his hand faltered for a second and a tiny shriek left her mouth as she realized she was toppling forward. “Abel!” she cried. Her hand tried to grasp the bannister but only the thin air made contact with her. “No!” she thought as a sharp pain seared through her side. She gasped and a moment later the pain spread to her temple. “Abel!” she gasped out before her eyes found him. Her eyes widened and she might have screamed again if she was not feeling the pain. Gabriel stood there in all his sensual glory, his tie now askew, his jacket was gone and his shirt was put on haphazardly which showed his taught muscles as he raised Abel by his collar.  Julia shook her head and tried to get up. The pain was there but she knew she had to do something fast or this would definitely get out of hand.

She staggered up and looked at him. “Damn this stupid staircase! she cursed. A hand caught the bannister and she pulled herself up. “Gabriel!” she called. Her voice was raspy as she stood there trying to call him. “Gabriel!” she called again. Her head was a whirl as she stood there trying to get his attention. His eyes left Abel and landed on her. “Don’t do this,’ she said shaking her head. His jaw tightened and it was then that she saw his balled up fist. “No…!” her voice faltered as the lights suddenly swarm in front of her. Whatever it was that hit her, hit her hard. Her feet wobbled forward before her face kissed the ground. The last thing she saw was Erica standing there not too far from her with a wicked smile upon her lips. “Bitch,” she muttered before the darkness took her.
