"So, have you heard the news?" my father asked. I raised my head from the magazine and arched my eyebrow.

"What kind?" I asked, eyes drifting to those sexy sleek automobiles on the magazine, yearning it even though I already had five.

"The alien contact." he replied, plopping his legs onto the coffee table. I raised my eyebrows and nodded. A new planet? It is something common. We found a new planet just a year ago, which was just a few thousand light years away. Sadly, it was uninhabited, just a few creatures but not an intelligent species. It was hard to find intelligent species that has a language, it was usually just grunts and moans. 

Funny how, since we do make those noises in bed.

"You don't look very interested son." my father pointed out. I snickered, "of course. It is not a surprise."

My father frowned at me. I rolled my eyes, putting my magazine down onto the table. "Fine, humor me. What or who are they." 

My father smiled and threw some papers in a brown envelope onto the table. Wordlessly, I took it and scanned through the paper.

Earth, nicknamed the Blue Planet with 70% covered in water. 

The only planet in Solar System that harbors life, part of a galactic system known as The Milky Way. Planet's atmosphere is very suitable for organisms to thrive with 78 percent nitrogen, 21 percent oxygen, and 1 percent other ingredients envelops us. Distance from the Sun- 92, 955, 891 miles. Length of one orbit around the sun- 365 days, 6 hours, 16 minutes. Length of one rotation around Earth's axis- 23 hours, 56 minutes.
Minimum temperature on Earth- negative 126 degree Fahrenheit. 
Maximum temperature on Earth- 136 degree Fahrenheit.

I looked up, unimpressed, we had encounter a handful of such planet conditions in the past decade. My father grinned, "But now, there is a kick to it!"

I kept quiet, waiting for my father to continue, "Earth have an intelligent species! And do you know, they speak the same language as us!!"

Now, that got me interested. A species that speak the same language as us? That was a first. The other species usually talked gibberish to us but of course, with our technology, we deciphered their interesting language in a week. To find a species that speaks the same language with us, that was an eye opener.

"How far are they from us?" I asked. My father grinned, he knew I was interested.

My father touched his chin, "If I am not wrong, they're about a few thousand light years away from us." I nodded, I was mentally calculating. With my newly built spacecraft, it would take me a month to reach there, provided there were no complications. 

"And son, we're holding a conference call with them in exactly 72 hours from now. I would like you to be there with me along with your mother." my father said, his face changed from a carefree expression to a business like. Instinctively, my expression became solemn and nodded, "Sure. Just remind me when the date is closer."

My father nodded and was just about to say something when my mother walked into the living room. I greeted my mother who had her eyes glued on my father's legs on the coffee table. I internally smirked, good luck father.

My mother narrowed her eyes and said in a very calming manner, "Wiarc. My dear Wiarc."

My father snapped his head behind him and grinned, "Hey!" 

I looked at my parents, perhaps it is a wise choice to take my leave now. 

"What did I say about keeping legs off the table?" 

My father let out a nervous laugh, for a king, my father sure was terrified of my mother. However, who can blame her, my mother can be scary as hell if she wants to be. I sneakily went out of the room but not before hearing my father trying to persuade and pacify her. I shook my head as I closed the door, but before I could do that, I heard something that probably would scar me for a day.

"How about you keep your legs open honey?"

I think investing in a bottle of bleach for my ears is a fucking good idea.
