1894

A tear rolls down my face as I stare at my reflection pinning loose strands of my hair that have fallen from their position. I didn't want to be sent of to an older man, I never wanted to tie my love to a man who I don't love. I quickly pinch my cheeks wincing creating a 'blush' to form at my apples. A girl in the 18th Century was a difficult role in the economy but being a princess was a little bit harder. Grown off expensive luxuries and multiple events, surrounded by other snobs who don't pride themselves in their talents but in the money building up in the bank under their name. The women are oppressed, through chores and cooking, through clothes that squeeze your ribs painfully to bearing multiple children for a man that doesn't seem to have any emotional connection with you.

My parents got married when my mother was 15 and my father 24, she told me you grow to love him since he pays for the dresses and provides high quality wine. Still I reject the system until the other night when I felt my father's wrath of anger spread along my skin, I was 18 and still unengaged and running from the marriage they set up two years ago between a man named Alec, who was too old for me - I wanted to say was illegal but nothing every changes in this kingdom. I blinked away the tears as my door slowly opened revealing our maid, Isabella with a kind smile

"Princess? the guests art arriving, art thee good now?" I nodded staring at my hands

"Well very much Isabella, I am not well enow prithee cometh in" I whispered as she pushed her plump little body through the doors shutting it quickly before rushing to my side.

"Art thee did hurt?" she whispered drying my tears with a tissue off my vanity.

"I am depress'd i doth not loveth yond sir and feeleth did hurt with mine own parents decisions" I said as she smiled and nodded understanding, she was basically my mother since my own could never be around for me. She sighed squeezing my hand, to which she stands up and continues helping me with my hair placing silver jewellery in my hair.

"I eke doth not liketh the arrangement, thee des'rve someone bett'r who is't can loveth thee" I nod, finally stopping my tears knowing I am not overreacting as a knock rings out through the room, indicating it is my time to descend the marble staircase.

"thee shall beest good now loveth, just has't excit'ment and danceth" I smile giving her a tight hug as my dress flows completely to the crown. She stands on a stole and places my mask over my eyes, sticking it in place as the butler opens my door.
