Chapter 48

Jillian’s POV

I was just quiet while he was driving. Up until this moment, I haven’t even caught the butterflies which flew right from my stomach when he told me that. I haven’t moved on yet from his promise. And I know that when Cyrus makes a promise, he fulfills it, regardless.

Kanina, hindi ako nakasagot sa kaniya. Kaya kinagat ko na lamang ang labi ko at suminghap. I’m a Journ student but heck, I’m always tongue tied when it comes to him. I couldn’t even come up with one good sentence whenever I’m with him. And it’s because I’m scared that my words would be just a breath compared to what my heart really wants to speak forth.

What if everything I do would just nullify my love for him? I’m this scared—scared to death to lose him with my wrong moves. I know myself; I could destroy everything in a snap. So, I would rather hold my grips and keep him forever.

“Are you okay now?” he asked.

I shyly nodded my head. Hindi pa rin ako makatingin sa kaniya.

“Pity the window, Miss. It would dethaw in no time because of your stares,” he informed me. I still didn’t look at him. Come on, Cyrus. Don’t make things too hard for me.

Marahan niyang tinapik ang balikat ko. “What kind of drama are you seriously pulling this time?”

“Hindi naman ako nagda-drama. At isa pa, huwag ka ngang magulo. Mag-drive ka na lang diyan. Being nosy while driving is prohibited.”

My peripheral view caught him creasing his forehead. “Huh? I’m no good with laws but is that even legit?” he mocked. “Says who? And why?”

“Says me and it’s because you could possibly annoy your passengers.” I rolled my eyes. “Katulad nito. Nakakainis kapag ang ingay mo. Just do the world a favor and shut up. Let me have my solitude,” masungit na ani ko.

Napasapok siya sa kaniyang ulo. “Women, really.” He heaved out a heavy sigh. He looked at me and asked, “Are you on your period?”

“Ikaw lang yata ang kilala kong lalaki na ganiyan kalakas ang loob na itanong ‘yan. Wala talagang preno ‘yang bibig mo ‘no?” I gnarled. The stupid guy just laughed.

“Ang sungit mo kasi. Nagiging ganiyan ka lang naman kapag nagseselos ka o kinikilig ka,” tumatawang aniya. Mas namula ako dahil sa sinabi niyang ‘yun. Good Lord, let the whole earth swallow me whole.

“Napaka-feeling nito! Manahimik ka nga!” I hurled back. And knowing how pesky he could get, he didn’t stop teasing me, of course. “Just drive the stupid car, will you? Tigilan mo na ako. Hindi na nakakatuwa.”

He mimicked my annoyed voice. I shoot him a baneful look because of his antics. “Cyrus,” suway ko.

“Fine,” he surrendered. Finally, he did stop. “Hindi ba next week na ‘yung start ng OJT mo?” he asked out of the blue.
