It's been hours but everything still hasn't sank in me yet... I'm engaged... I'm engaged to Lorenzo Cohen. We'll get married and have a family together. But why does it feel like everything's happening all too fast? Can I do this? Can we do this?
"Tahan na, para ka namang hindi masaya eh." Cohen laughed as we slow-danced in the dance floor along with other couples.
"Gago." Natawa nalang ako at yumakap pa ng mas mahigpit sa kanya habang nakasandal ang noo ko sa balikat niya. Pasinghot-singhot ako, habang patuloy ang mumunting pagtakas ng luha mula sa mga mata ko.
It was an unusual sight in the club; people slow dancing to acoustic renditions of old love songs, unlike the usual raving young adults who are dancing along to edm music.
"Get your hand off my ass, Lorenzo." I faced him without removing my arms around his neck.
"What?" He chuckled, squeezing my ass with one of his hands. "We're gonna get married." He reminded me, his hand still not moving.
"Babe..." Even if I was smiling, I was sure to give him a warning tone.
"Come on, Babe. We're getting married already." He grinned and pulled me closer to him. The look on his eyes is sending shivers down my spine. I could sense what he means and I don't like it.
I jokingly squinted at him. "Babe, don't tell me you're only marrying me just so you could have your way with me?"
He laughed and kissed me lightly on the lips. "That's just the bonus. Okay, magpaparaya na ako. Sa honeymoon nalang."
I sighed inwardly, but still I felt discomfort. "And when are you going to let go of my ass?"
Cohen sighed as he finally let go and held me by the waist instead. Sumimangot pa ang gago.
"Do you really want to marry me?" I couldn't help but ask. Everything just feels so surreal. I feel like I'm on this dream while I'm wide awake.
"Oo naman." He was taken aback by my question but he was quick to smile and kiss me again. "Two years ago, I risked my life just to save you because I can't picture my life without you. I love you, Piper. I don't know what i'll do if I lose you." He said, all while looking at my eyes lovingly. He looked at me like I mattered. He looked at me like I am the most precious thing in his life.
I nodded. I couldn't help but smile and kiss him lightly.
He leaned his forehead in mine as he whispered. "Promise me that you won't let anyone take you away from me?"
I nodded again. "Just promise not to break my heart. I've taken risks before but I'm going all in on you."
