the cracks in the sidewalk
they remind me of my broken heart
we wanted you to take the pain
take the struggle
and stay with us
we were selfish.
the laughter of the cute shy girls
remind me of when I took my heart
to the end of the world
with you.
the tears of the little boy
remind me of when I soothed
and hushed your tears
and we made it.
the girls who pump
their fists in the air
remind me when we
got it right.
the chants of the guys
the remind me of when
me and my friends chanted
your name
we all wanted you
to make it.
but something are just
not meant to be.
but the cracks in the sidewalk,
they remind me of my broken life.
