Chapter 4: His Darker Side

The smell of disinfectant woke me up from my peaceful sleep. I furrowed my eyebrows and squinted my eyes in pain from the bright light illuminating the room.

"What?" I mumbled to my self. I looked around and saw that I was in the school nurses office.

The room was void of any other living person.

"Whoa this is just like when Rick woke up in the hospital all alone! And later on found out he was in the middle of a zombie apocalypse!" What if the same thing is happening to me?

"This is awesome," I whispered to myself. My head snapped to the right as the door slowly opened.

It was nurse Andrew.

He popped his head in with a mocking frown. Yes he is a nurse and he is a male. I still find it funny.

"I'm afraid zombies have not taken over the world yet Anastasia. Us charismatic humans are still calling the shots around here. So sorry to disappoint"

"Oh um, I was just thinking out loud" I said sheepishly. Nurse Andrew gave me a small smile.

"Why am I here?" Nurse Andrew lifted his head up and cleared his throat.

"Right, um well you fell from your chair"

Now I remember.

He carried on

"Lucky for you, you didn't get a concussion but you did hit your head pretty hard. So I suggest you rest here for a while"

How long have I been here?

"Um, how many periods have I missed?"

"Well you only missed the first half of fourth period and that was due to the fact that you actually managed to fall asleep after waking up but you probably don't remember that." Oh so I still have time to go to biology. I have to finish my test or I would have to redo it next semester!

"Actually, I'm feeling much better now. Thank you so much Nurse Andrew you work miracles!" I gave a light chuckle.

"Anastasia I can't le-"

Before he could finish what he was saying I gathered my stuff and ran out the door .

I walked into my biology class and noticed that Hunter was there. I thought he wouldn't come back.

I sat in the seat next to him after making sure that there was no where else to sit and dropped my bag on the floor under my desk and started to scribble answers on the test paper in front of me. It was so easy! Hah.

I could feel Hunters' gaze burning a hole on the side of my face.

My heartbeat quickened its pace as he moved closer to me. My hands got clammy and I couldn't help but start fidgeting.

From the corner of my eye I saw him slowly lick his lips then purse them and furrow his eyebrows as he tilted his head to the side. He almost looked worried.

Nah he was probably angry with me for some reason.

"Why are you staring at me?" I whispered.

"Where were you?" he whispered using the same tone. What? What's he talking about?

"What are you ta-" He cut me off before I could finish.

"After lunch. Where were you?" He clarified. My cheeks burned red, as I remembered why I wasn't in class.

What an embarrassing way to get hurt. But how did he know I wasn't here after lunch? I thought he ditched.

"I had something to do" There was no way I was going to tell him what actually happened.
