Chapter 33: Struck By Lightening

"Don't worry, Tas. I'm sure he knows what he's doing." He said as he stared at me all worried.

"Yeah I hope so. But what about you? When are you getting out of this place? Have they spoken to you about any improvements? Any progress?"

"They tell me I've improved so much. They say I'll be out soon, but Tas there's just one thing that I can't seem to u-"

We were interrupted.

"I'm sorry but it's time for lunch Nathan." Said a nurse as she motioned towards the door, "I'm afraid you'll have to come back later." This time she turned to me.

"Lunch? But that's in an hour..." Nathan stated, confused.

The woman grew impatient, slightly huffing she said, "not this again Nathan, let's get going. Lunch is now."

And with that she took Nathan as they both made their way slowly out of sight.

I sighed as I got up and headed back to the reception.

Like always, little Dylan ran up to me as I got out of the elevator and began scribbling away on his board.

"Hey kiddo." I said as I ruffled his hair and waited for him to finish.

"Back so soon?" His whiteboard read.

"Yeah... Nathan had to go for lunch. Shouldn't you too?"

Dylan furrowed his eyebrows and shook his head.

He turned the whiteboard around and wrote, "Lunch is like in an hour."

At this I shook my head, "but the nurse said that it was time for Nathan's lunch."

Dylan's eyes grew wide and I notice him swallow hard, his Adams Apple bobbing up and down.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked kneeling down to him.

He slowly shook his head again and wrote "you should go now.", on his board.

"Why? I thought I'd wait for Nathan, I mean how long will eating take?"

He sighed and began writing again.

"It takes long. Very long. So you should go. Please?"

This time I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Why do you want me to go so bad Dylan?" I asked as he became more nervous.

He was about to quickly write something again when another nurse interrupted.

"I'm sorry ma'am but it's time for Dylan's lunch." She took hold of Dylan's hand and lead him away.

Dylan looked back before going out of sight and he had the most worried look I have ever seen on a child. He had tears forming in his eyes and he picked his hand up, waving to me as if it were a last goodbye.

Something about that, something about him, something about all of this made my stomach churn and I all of a sudden grew dizzy and lost.

I quickly made my way over to the counter.

"Excuse me, I just wanted to know why little Dylan over there has been admitted here. Is that possible?" I asked as politely as possible.

The woman behind the counter didn't even bother looking up as she said, "patient information is classified ma'am.", she continued typing on the computer.

"I know that but he's practically my brother."

She didn't reply.

"Can I at least know my friend Nathan's day schedule?" I asked again.
