To the carriages

We got Remedy to come back after she fainted. Dana stayed with her, but I went to change into my robes. A white button up shirt, black tie, a black sweater vest, a black pleated skirt, knee high black socks, and my shoes. I stepped off the train thinking everyone had already gone up. I met Dana at the carriages mentioned in my letter. I hopped on the carriage with Dana a girl and another boy.

"Hi! I'm Joy Felton." I was really nervous.

"Hey, I'm Rose." The girl looked up from her book. She had long Red hair and bright green eyes. She was reading one of our text books. Her hair was tied back with a yellow ribbon.

"I'm Demetri." The boy just stuck out his hand to me so fast it made me jump. I shook it. He had short blond hair and beautiful hazel eyes. He was really cute.

"Hey Dana!" the two said in unison.

"Hi! Joy these are two Hufflepuffs. They're in the same year as us." She explained to me that she hoped I would be sorted into the same house. We talked but soon enough we were at the castle. It was beautiful, like nothing I could have imagined. We walked in and I could feel my frog coming back up.

Once in the castle an old lively woman with hair pulled back tight into a bun came and pulled me aside.

"Hello dear, you must be Miss Felton".

"Uh, yes ma'am."

"Ok, follow me and we'll get you sorted"

We walked in and there were four long tables. Students in black robes almost filled up the tables. Everything around me drowned out as my heartbeat grew louder and louder in my ears. I was ushered up in front of what I guessed were all the teachers. I was seated on a stool. Everything fell silent and I felt something being placed on my head.

"WHERE, WHERE TO PUT THIS ONE?" I fell off the stool but caught myself before I completely landed on my face. I could hear some snickering.

"I could put you in Ravenclaw... No, not enough focus. You seem to be a very loyal friend, good at books, pure in heart... I know the perfect place for you. Yes! HUFFLEPUFF!!!" I could hear a table erupt with cheers. I stepped off the stool and looked to Professor McGonagall. I looked out to see Dana waving her arms at me. I walked over and sat in between Dana and Rose.

After dinner, Rose and Dana walked me to our house. There was a stack of barrels in front of us.
"Ok Joy, to get in you knock in a beat", okay? Remember that. It will eventually be changed."

"Ok." The barrel top swung open and we crawled inside. The common room was beautiful. It was divided into three tiers. No windows at all and it was decorated to look like the outdoors. A lamp in the ceiling of the middle level looks and acts like the sun. The sun lamp "sets" and turns silver like the moon at night, and feeds the plants as the sun during the day. Middle tier is carpeted. Fire pit has an anti-trip spell on it. It was warmed and lit by a big fireplace. The furniture was yellow and comfortable. The tables were brown wood. It was beautiful. We went up to our rooms. There was a long hallway that went to our rooms on the second tier. We walked down until we got to our room. I opened the door and the dorms were carved from the earth in round rooms. Our beds were half set in nooks in the wall. The comforter was grey, huge and fluffy with a faint yellow pattern. Yellow chiffon curtains designed to come forward and drape over the foot of the bed. Everyone had a trunk at the foot of their bed, and a set of shelves and drawers on either side of the bed. Theres a step into the middle of the room. A lamp hangs from the ceiling acting like the sun lamp in the common room. My new robes and ties were on my bed. There were five beds.

1. Mine

2. Dana

3. Rose

4. A girl named Sarah Bones

5. A girl whose names I didn't know because she was kinda rude.

We were changing into our night clothes when something came through the door. A little barn owl with a note tied to her foot came and landed on my trunk. I grabbed the note.

To my dear Joy,

A gift to my Joy. This is for you to write to me. She doesn't have a name yet, I'm leaving that up to you. Write soon!

Love your Aunt Mary

I looked at my new owl.

"I'll call you Pertida" from my favorite Shakespeare play, Winters Tale.

Our common room was next to the kitchen. Rose told me it could get chilly in our rooms so there were extra blankets in the common room. I went downstairs to grap one. The room was filled with lots of strange plants. Some were even snoring. I found the blankets and went to bed. I missed my home already. I turned on my side to see the picture of my parents. I'll be okay.
