A's P.O.V

I couldn't help it, feeling this way; this unsettling jealously that I would always get when it came to Renji and Rukia. I knew how Renji felt about her; he would speak of it all the time. But that still didn't change the fact that I somehow fell in love with him, despite my protests. How can you love a man that was in love with someone else? Who would be that stupid? Oh right, I was that stupid. A heavy sigh escaped my chapped lips. I always chewed on my lips in a nervous habit or when I was in deep thought, causing them to chap really badly. I just knew that Renji was going to get hurt in the long run. He was like me, in love with someone that loved someone else. Rukia didn't want Renji, she never did. The only person that has Rukia's eye is Ichigo. And Renji was too blind and naïve to see that.

"Earth to A, are you paying attention?" a familiar voice questioned me, while annoyingly snapping their fingers in front of my face. I blinked a couple of times and glanced over to the person speaking.

"You were saying something?" I questioned my older brother. My older brother was Shuhei Hisagi, the acting captain of squad 9 until they could find a replacement captain. I knew that this position was too much for my brother sometimes, so I always offered to help him when I could. Shuhei released an annoyed sigh and rolled his eyes.

"It's a wonder that you can actually come back from that head of yours with how lost you get in it sometimes" he said sarcastically. I gave Shuhei a sly smirk, rolling my eyes at the same time. "And to answer your question, yes I was saying something" Shuhei said. I could tell that he was annoyed, but I knew better than anyone that his annoyance wasn't pointed at anyone. He was just under a lot of stress, which was understandable with the circumstances. His captain just betrayed the Soul Society, along with betraying Shuhei as well. And we all know that Shuhei thought of Kaname very highly, so his betrayal always sat heavily with Shuhei.

"And what were you saying?" I questioned him. Shuhei ruffled my hair lightly, causing me to groan. I hated when he messed up my hair.

"I was asking if you were doing anything tonight. I was thinking about heading to the bar here in a few to grab a couple of drinks. I haven't been out in god knows how long and I think I just need a break before I finally snap" Shuhei said.

"Or maybe you just need to get laid" I responded. My brother's cheeks instantly turned red. He looked over at me wide eyed in horror. I couldn't help the escape of laughter that erupted at the look on his face.

"At least I can actually get laid!" He shot back. I let out a measly snorting sound, placing my hand over my heart in an attempt to look hurt, all the while rolling my eyes.

"The only thing that you get laid by, my dear brother, is your hand" I responded, letting out a series of laughter. Shuhei's face fell. He let out a low growling sound. I defiantly hit a nerve.

"Should I leave so I don't get killed?" a voice hesitantly questioned. Both Shuhei and I looked over at the doorway. My heart instantly started to race. It was almost near impossible to say anything with how nervous I had become. I was always like this around Renji. Shuhei looked over at me and smirked. I knew that look anywhere; he was going to get revenge on me for saying what I did. I grew more nervous. I shook my head back and forth hoping that my brother would understand and not do something stupid.

"Renji, would you like to join my sister and me for drinks tonight?" Shuhei questioned the red head. Renji's body stiffened slightly. He looked back and forth between Shuhei and me like he just stepped into a war that he was now stuck in the middle of.

"Umm.. well I.." Renji stuttered. He clearly didn't know how to respond to my brother's unusual behavior.

"Good we will see you around 10" Shuhei said, not allowing Renji to really respond for himself. I glared at Shuhei, only to find him smirking at me. Oh he was defiantly up to something, but what that something is I wasn't quite sure.
