I stare at the numbers on my alarm clock.

Just go off.

My alarm blares throughout my room.

I shut it off and sit up.

Mitch moves beside me. "Is it morning?"

"Yeah."

He yawns and sits up. "Your morning voice is so hot."

"Thanks."

I put on my glasses.

"Nerd." Mitch says, reaching for his phone.

"I don't feel like putting in contacts." I say and yawn.

"Valid point. What time's your treatment?"

"9:15."

"Let's go get breakfast."

I agree and get out of bed.

"You have chemo today."

I nod.

"I'm sure it will be better than last time."

"Yep."

Mitch sighs. "I love you baby. I know it's hard."

I nod.

"Just think that you're almost done." He says and gets dressed.

I pull off my shirt and Mitch gasps.

I look down. "What's wrong?"

"Um.... uh- no- nothing..."

I run my hands over my stomach.

"Mitch..."

"I know.... I knew this would happen I just- it caught me off guard."

I run to the bathroom and look at myself in the mirror.

My stomach is nearly sunken in, my arms are skinny, my face is thin and my skin is pale.

The bags under my eyes add a special touch.

I feel anger rise in my chest and swing back my fist.

Mitch grabs my hand.

"Don't."

I drop my hand and begin to sob.

Mitch picks me up off the ground. "Baby, I'm sorry. It's okay, you just lost a little weight."

"I look- I look- I look dead, Mitch."

Mitch gasps. "No, baby. You look beautiful. You're always beautiful."

I sniffle. "That's why my clothes seem so big."

He takes off my glasses and wipes my eyes. "You didn't tell me about that, baby. I could've helped you."

"I thought I just lost a little weight."

"I know, it's okay. Hey, Thanksgiving is soon. I bet you'll eat a lot then."

I force a smile. "You're right."

I put on my glasses and stand up.

"Are you sure you want to wear that? It's hot outside."
