Chapter 25

Celeste's scream of agony switch to rage within seconds and she vaulted off the couch lunging for me. I was taken by surprised by the sheer ferociousness of her wolf that surge forth demanding submission.

Celeste slammed me into the arm chair, her hands twisting at the collar of my shirt as I bent awkwardly. Celeste knee was wedge between my legs as she half straddle and loomed over me with the weight of her pregnant belly resting on my chest.

My wolf recognize the authority of her wolf and immediately rose to the challenge. I struggled to keep my wolf under wraps to avoid hurting Celeste.

"Tell me why I shouldn't rip your throat out now!" Celeste elongated teeth grazed my neck.

"Because you won't!" Celeste pressed into me, making my head fall backwards hanging over the back of the arm chair.

"Why shouldn't I, when you threaten me and my baby!" Celeste roared.

"Have you ever killed anyone? Seen their life drained away at your hands." Celeste loosen her grip as she shifted her weight slightly off of me. "No you haven't, you don't have it in you. Plus, if you kill me then I can't tell you about the plot from Jeremiah Carson."

"What!" That brought rage back into Celeste and her hands tighten again on my shirt.

"Celeste!" Colin's voice roared over Celeste.

"Eva!" My eyes traveled to the inverted image of my mate standing next to his brother. Even upside down Creed was something to look at. I felt weight lift off of me as Celeste stood from the arm chair.

I sat up in the chair twisting my neck and cracking it back to normal. Now I see why Celeste didn't need a bodyguard. She could definitely take care of herself. Which was now making more sense why Carson wanted her dead. Celeste was not a normal wolf, she definitely was a higher rank wolf and not because of her mating with Colin. The only wolves higher than an alpha were those descendants from the council.

"What the hell is going on in here?" Colin demanded wrapping his arm around Celeste glaring at me.

"Eva and I were talking." Celeste smiled turning away to resume her reclined position on the couch rubbing her stomach.

Creed perched himself on the side of the armchair I was sitting on. "It seemed more like fighting and you had my girl on the ropes." Creed laughed swinging his arm around my shoulder.

"Hey, I'm not your girl!" I pushed his arm away crossing my arms.

"I don't care what you two were doing, Eva you were to stay in your room." Colin didn't smile at either of us and the only one still standing.

I shrugged. "I needed to talk with Celeste."

"Knocking my guys out was a little much. Maybe you could've waited until after I talked with Creed."

"I really don't do well with waiting. I'm working on it. Listen I don't know what Creed told you, but I really am here to help."

"Help? You mentioned Carson." Celeste stated latching onto Colin's hand.

"What the hell does Carson has to do with us?" Colin growled.

"Everything." I pulled out the tape recorder and played the taped conversation between Phillip and Carson. Colin sank down next to Celeste intertwining hands.

"Why does he want me dead?" Celeste asked no one in particular.

"It has something to do with why he sent me down here, to uncover your secret."
