Chapter 8

Sobbing hysterically, I curled into a ball with my arms covering my head screaming 'please don't kill me' over and over again. I heard the door slam open and someone rushed over trying to calm me down  by tenderly rubbing my back.

"Shhhh, no one is going to kill you. Colin do something!" the female voice belong to Celeste Wright, luna of the Raven Pack.

"Luna, please I need to finish asking her question."

"Can't you see this girl is traumatize? No more questions Kelvin, you're done!" Celeste continued to rub my back and I stopped screaming and just whimpered. "Shh, Eva you are safe, no one is going to hurt."

"Alpha?" Kelvin pleaded.

"You heard Celeste, no more questions. Everybody out." Colin commanded. The door shut and I was alone with Celeste Wright. If I was an assassin, this would be my chance to kill their Luna. Are these people stupid to leave her unprotected with a stranger?

"Eva, it's just the two of us. Please stop crying."

"Are-are you one of them?"

"No I'm human like you, but I am an alpha mate."

"So are they going to kill me for trespassing?"

"Why would they kill you Eva?"

"Because technically I'm a rogue?"

"You are a hybrid right?"

"Yes, but I don't really have any werewolf gene."

"So you can't shift?"

"No, I can't even tell when I'm around any. Please you have to tell them that I didn't know I was on anyone's territory. I thought this was a human town. Please tell them."

"Don't worry about that. No one is going to hurt you?"

"Eva, I have to ask you one more thing?" I nodded my head waiting for her question. "Do you know Zeke Vigil?" My eyes widened I didn't think that would turn up in their investigation. How the fuck did they get his name.

I jumped to my feet, "Why?"

Celeste rose to her feet her studying my stiff posture. "Eva he claims he is your mate and has been looking for you for the past two years." I turned away from her and the mirror to mask the anger at hearing this bit of news. I needed to calm down and use this to my advantage. I was always going to play the rejected mate act, which was actually true, but the fact that the shithole is looking for me is news to me.

I wrapped my arms my body, essentially hugging myself as my mind played through scenarios quickly in my head. I kept my back to Celeste while I spoke, "It's true, he is my mate but he rejected me." I spun around so quickly and latched onto her hand. "Please don't tell him where I am. I have been hiding from him ever since he rejected me."

"I don't understand, if he rejected you why is he looking for you?"

" Zeke is not a good person. He found out I was his mate and was disgusted. He thought I was weak for being a hybrid, so he rejected me and marked someone else. He only wanted to keep me around as back up for his own sick perverted pleasure." For a moment that piece of truth that I didn't share with anyone blindsided me with buried emotions. Tears began streaming down my face as Celeste brought me into her arms for a comforting hug.   "Please don't tell him I'm here."

"Of course we will not tell him. Come on sit down, I'm going to get you some water." Celeste waited until I was seated before she exited the room. I place my arms on the table and dropped my head down staring down at my feet. I wiped the tears from my face, pushing aside the thought that for the first time in a long time my tears. Focus Eva! If that asshole finds me here, he will blow my cover. I needed to get to my phone and call the council and find out what the hell is going on.
