An hour later, Kelly returned with a box filled with supplies from the doctor's shopping list. The two set up a lab on the table in the kitchen. Kelly went to draw blood from Dean.

"Kelly, put him on a catheter. I'll set to work here."

The two caregivers worked on the blood for the next couple of hours. Late in the evening, the doctor sighed.

"What is it?" Bobby asked.

"He has a nasty virus. Seems they ran that knife through some animal feces somewhere. I'll keep him on the antibiotics but we're going to need an antiviral and there aren't many of those out there. Kelly, I need you to go see David Carter the next town over. I'm going to give you a letter to give him. He's helped me out on hunter cases before. He'll write you the prescription for the drug."

McConnell sat at the desk in Bobby's study and wrote a long letter. He put it in an envelope and addressed it to Dr. David Carter. Kelly took the letter and headed outside.

Bobby looked at the man. "How bad is he?"

"I won't mince words here. He's pretty bad."

"Do I need to find his Dad?"

"Do I know him?"

"John Winchester."

"Winchester? Hell no."

Bobby watched the man head back to his bedroom and followed him. They walked over to the side of the bed. The doctor checked Dean's temperature and sighed.

"We need that drug. I can't just fight the symptoms with this one," McConnell said, looking down on the hunter. "This is John Winchester's boy? Which one?"

"The oldest. His name is Dean."

"Maybe you better call the man. If he treats his boys like he does everyone else, he won't come."

"I know," Bobby stated as he left the room to call John.
