Hiccup's P.O.V

After both the girl’s figures disappeared into the forest I returned my attention to Jack. He was currently fighting Toothless until I called him off. “Alright Bud that’s enough.“ I stated. Toothless’ fierce expression changed to his usual playful one as he jumped off of Jack and ran over to me. “Good job Toothless.” I laughed as I patted his head gently. “Alright that was pretty cheap.” Jack groaned as he struggled to get up. “What was?” I asked him. “You set your damn dragon on me!” He shouted in frustration. “Uh oh Bud it looks like he’s losing it.” I laughed. After Jack composed himself he pulled up his hood over his head. “So are we going to continue this game or what?” He questioned. “Jack this isn’t a game, come on you need to wake up! “ I tried. “Shut up!” he shouted as he fired his staff at me. It hit me directly in the chest causing me to launch backwards and hit a tree. I was fine but the air had been knocked out of me and I struggled to breath. Snow began to fall slowly around us and soon the forest was completely coated with it. “Jack listen, this isn’t you, this is Pitch!” I tried as I leaned against the tree to steady myself. Jack was making his way towards me as I talked. “Jack please you have to snap out of it! Jack I don’t want to have to hurt you!” I shouted. Suddenly Jack stopped mid stride. “You hurt me? You really think that you could even scratch me? I’m Immortal!” Jack shouted. “Jack I know you are in there.” I cried. Jack was silent for a few moments. “He is still in here; in fact he’s scratching just above the surface. Unfortunately he’s trapped in this dark form and can’t escape. But he’s very much alive and aware of what’s happening around him. This is his punishment. His torture if you will.” He explained. “How is this it?” I asked. “Because he’s going to have to watch his best friends die before his very eyes, and not be able to do anything about it.” Dark Jack answered as he charged at me. Toothless quickly jumped in front of me and stood on his hind legs. He raised his wings, and bared his teeth to scare off Jack, but it was useless, Jack maneuvered around the dragon and landed in front of me. He grabbed my neck and pinned me to the tree. I gasped out for air but his hand was crushing my windpipe making it impossible to breath. I grabbed onto his arm and tugged on it, in hope that he would loosen his grip. “Don’t struggle Hiccup this will be over in a little bit.” Jack cooed as he tightened his grip on my neck even more. I swung my legs up and kicked him in the chest. Jack released me and fell backwards. I coughed violently as I finally got my breath back. “Toothless.” I called hoarsely. The dragons headed my call and appeared by my side in seconds. I mounted him and directed him towards the sky. As we flew up, I looked down to see Jack close behind us. Jack reached us in no time, and he didn’t waste any time attacking as well. We fired at each other, back and forth, neither one of us actually hitting our targets. Only the occasional graze or close call occurred. “Jack listen to me, I know you can hear me. You have to fight it!” I screamed. Jack floated idly, slowly he lowered his head and laughed. “Oh he is Hiccup, but it’s useless. Unless you have the ability to heal a broken heart, poor little Jack is stuck like this forever.” Dark Jack stated as he gestured to himself. Suddenly an Idea popped inside my head. “Rapunzel has the ability to heal!” I thought to myself. “I don’t.” I stated to him. He grinned evilly. “But I know someone who does.” I laughed. Suddenly Jack’s evil grinned disappeared and turned into a look of panic. I dive bombed back towards the forest and Jack followed. I guided Toothless in and out of the wood. We swerved left and right, up and down, until we reached the area where I had first met Toothless. It was far from the village, but easy to find. I choose this stop because I knew that if you came from the cliffs than you were bound to come across this area eventually. I prayed that Rapunzel would come back with Merida safe, and then she could use her hair to heal Jack. “Then everything will be fine and dandy.” I whispered to myself. Jack landed on the small lake and it froze instantly as his feet met the water. “Playing hard to get are we?” He laughed as he twirled his staff. “Not really I’m playing more of a killing time kind of thing.” I joked. Jack frowned as he stopped spinning his staff and looked at me. Toothless nudged me gently and bellowed softly. “What is it bud?” I asked him.  Toothless eyed upward, so I followed his eyes and saw a Jack no longer had a teasing look, he was serious. His golden eyes twinkled in anger and amusement. He stood on the frozen lake at a good distance from me, yet he still seemed threatening. “We don’t have to do this you know?” I asked him. ”Oh but we do.” Jack laughed. “Why?! Is it because Pitch told you to?!” I tried.  “Who said he told me to do this? Nah this here is all on my own free will. You see before Jack was a Guardian he was lonely and confused, eventually all that became anger. Pitch just brought those emotions back and added a little dash of his own power. The rest is all little Jack Frost.” Dark Jack stated as he inched closer. “You’re lying! Jack would never act like this even if he wasn’t believed in!” I shouted. “You’d be surprised; 300 years of loneliness can take its toll on anyone, even your friend.” Dark Jack explained. Toothless rumbled impatiently beside me as Jack and I conversed. “Yawn this discussion has taken an unentertaining turn; I think it’s time to get back to watching you squirm.” Dark Jack laughed as he charged me. I was taken by surprised once more as Jack moved with great speed. He was literally a blur in front of me; I couldn’t read his movement or direction. Suddenly I felt his staff connect with my face. I fell onto the ground and attempted to crawl away but Jack hooked his staff around my leg and reeled me in like a fish. I whistled loudly to signal Toothless as Jack pulled me away. Toothless headed the call and was by my side in a matter of seconds. He saw the situation and charged Jack. As Toothless and Jack battled it out I began to devise a better plan to kill time until Merida and Rapunzel returned. “Hmm ok what do I have to work with?” I mumbled to myself as I scanned the area. “Let’s see what does Jack hate?” I thought to myself. “Fire! Of course why didn’t I think of this earlier?” I said to myself. Since the area we were standing in is lower the rest of the land around us, I decided to use it as trap. “Toothless!” I shouted in hopes I could get his attention. Jack was under the large dragon again. His weight was too much for Jack so it was safe to say that for now he was trapped, but knowing Jack he would be able to find a way to escape. “Toothless, plasma blast over there!” I commanded as I pointed in the directions I wanted him to set aflame.  The flames spread quicker than I expected, the smoke made it harder to breathe and see.  Suddenly one of the surrounding trees that were aflame came tumbling down towards me. Toothless jumped off of Jack and tackled me. The tree hit the ground where I was just standing; Toothless had saved my life…..again. “Thanks bud.” I stated as I sat up and patted his head lovingly. Jack coughed loudly as he wandered through the smoke until he found me. “Are you crazy?!” He shouted. “No not really.” I laughed as I stood up and mounted Toothless. “You must be stupid then!” He shouted as he slammed his staff on the ground. The flames on the ground instantly froze over. “Well there goes that plan.” I mumbled to Toothless. The dragon grumbled in agreement towards my statement. Suddenly another tree groaned and creaked until it fell down like the other. Toothless dodged the tree and took off into the air. I looked down below to see that Dark Jack had dodged the tree as well but his staff wasn’t so lucky. He desperately pulled and tugged at the staff that was jammed underneath the large tree, but it did not budge. “Now’s our chance to trap him.” I exclaimed. “Toothless, plasma blast there, there, and there!” I directed. The land above the hole was now completely aflame. There was no opening where Jack could climb up without getting burned, and he couldn’t fly out because his staff was jammed underneath the tree. Below I watched as Dark Jack took in his surroundings. He frantically searched for an opening, but he instantly met the hot flames. He jumped back from the fire and looked up at me. “This can’t hold me forever! The flames will eventually die out!” He shouted from below. “True, true, but this dragon here is a Night Fury, he doesn’t have limited fire power.” I stated as I patted Toothless proudly. Dark Jack scoffed in annoyance as he crossed his arms and sat on top of the fallen tree. I found that my safest bet would to watch from above rather than in the pit below. From my spot in the sky I could see my village. To my surprise the cliffs where the village stood was aflame. Vikings and dragons were scattered everywhere. “What in the world?” I exclaimed as I stared as my home was falling apart. “What did you do?!” I shouted at Jack as I landed below in the pit beside him. “Whatever do you mean Hiccup?” He asked in a high pitched voice mockingly. “You know exactly what I am talking about! What is happening to my village?” I questioned as I gripped his blue hoodie and tugged upward. “Oh that? Well you see Pitch managed to make some friends.” Dark Jack laughed. “What kind of friends?” I questioned. Jack remained silent. “So this is your tough side huh? To be honest I’m not that impressed.” He mocked as he shoved me roughly. “Answer the question!” I shouted angrily. “Goodness that tone of yours is just so irritating!” Jack shouted. “I said answer the question! No more games!” I exploded as I punched him in the face. My fist connected with his face but he didn’t budge, he was still as an ice sculpture. “Wow that almost hurt!” Jack laughed as rubbed his cheek. Suddenly he leaned back with his arm and returned the favor. His fist collided with my face. Harsh, icy, pain shot through my skull. I felt as if I could see stars. “I liked you better when you were less like your fellow Vikings.” Jack stated as he kicked me in the stomach. I fell backwards and connected with the ground. Toothless growled angrily, he was just about to pounce until I signaled him off. “Toothless go and find Punzie and Merida!” I shouted as sat up and wiped my face. Toothless didn’t obey my order at first, he made it to my side and nudged my side lovingly. “I’ll be alright bud.” I laughed uncertainly. The dragon nodded and quickly took off into the night sky becoming almost invisible because of his dark hide. “That wasn’t a very smart move there.” Jack stated. “I know, but who said I was smart?” I retorted as I stood up and brushed off the soot covering my pants.
