Two updates in one night? I know, I'm getting my groove back.

"So how was school today, El?"

"El?"

"Ella's too long. Problem?"

I smiled. I really missed his voice. "What if I do?"

"Well then don't give it to me."

I laughed, my smile so wide it hurt. "I missed you, Johnson." I said quietly.

"I missed you too, Douglas." You could hear the clear smile on his face.

"So how was school?"

"Okay. I made new friends. Jess and Aiden."

"That's great."

"Yeah, they stood up for me after a bunch of girls kept asking me about you."

There was a brief pause at the other end of the phone. "I'm so sorry, El."

I furrowed my eyebrows. "It's not your fault, Jack, don't put that on yourself."

"If I hadn't called you-"

"No, don't say that. You didn't know..."

"El?"

"Yeah?"

There was a short pause. "Thank you."

A small smile grew on my face. Yeah, I was expecting him to admit something else, but for now, his genuine thank you will do.

"Jack?"

"Yeah?"

"You're welcome."
